Sources: Joe Biden Has Wife's Support for White House Bid
Source: NBC News by CHUCK TODD and ALEXANDRA JAFFE 1hr ago
Contrary to reports suggesting Vice President Joe Biden's wife remains an obstacle to his potential presidential run, sources tell NBC News that Jill Biden is fully behind him for another bid. Jill Biden, sources tell NBC's Chuck Todd, is 100 percent on-board with a presidential run, despite reports indicating her hesitation is part of what's keeping Biden from jumping into the race.
And that looks more likely by the day, as sources have indicated Biden's been meeting with Democratic leaders during his travels around the nation over the past week to tell them he wants to do it and thinks there's room for him to make a credible bid if he does. The key question that's still weighing on his mind as he decides whether to make another go of it: Does he have the emotional energy to give it his all, sources say.
But Biden knows that if he has any hopes of winning the nomination, he's better off deciding whether to run by Oct. 1 than waiting until the drop-dead deadline of Nov. 5, the day before the first Democratic primary filing deadline, in Alabama.
Deciding within the next three weeks would give him a slot in the first Democratic primary debate, on Oct. 13 in Las Vegas.

i think the support and loyalty from the White House/POTUS/FLOTUS etc. will pull him through to run

(13,190 posts)An endorsement of any candidate until the primary is over.He still in my opinion doesn't have a path to win the primary. And don't forget he's a lousy campaigner

(47,418 posts)because his wife was opposed. Party leaders approached him before John Kerry. I believe he would have beat George Bush had he run.

(405 posts)So not to worry, children. Handsome Joe is waiting in the wings to save the DNC from that pinko Bernie Sanders.

(27,315 posts)As long as these sources are anonymous, you can always use them without having to explain whether they are valid or not.
(NOTE: I have no idea whether Jill Biden is in or not, whether she has always been in or whether she changed her mind. This is besides the point. The point is that these types of rumors are great at an entertainment level and absolutely null for information (see rumors announcing Ghepardt and Tim Kaine as VP nominees in 2004 and 2008).
And sometimes they just make them up.

(4,762 posts)He's no progressive. He's the senator from MBNA and DuPont who voted for the Iraq war. And he's out of touch with American reality and still thinks it's the 70s and his blue collar phony schtick will work.
No. Not interested. Uncle Joe is a nice, funny centrist corporate democrat. Time to retire.

(12,655 posts)it will help bernie and om to solidify the progressive block.
but i do wonder if he feels used. it is clear to almost everyone that he's being thought of as a backup plan a contingency plan to save us from horrible Bernie if Hillary's downward slide continues, which it will.
but i am sick of seeing party elites and corporate rulers use people like they were tools in a toolbox. I don't agree with the guy, but he was a long serving US senator and vice president. He deserves better than to be treated as an understudy to Hillary.

(36,392 posts)I wonder if we are seeing the end of the party. Hillary has been running for president for almost twenty years, and now the wheels are coming off, and no one knows what to do about it.

(316 posts)One of the reasons I support Bernie is that he generates enthusiasm and motivates people to become actively involved in the process. Democrats need to increase voter turnout. I don't really see Biden as someone capable of leading a grassroots movement. I actually would love to see him stay on as Bernie's VP.

(199 posts)I love Bernie, have donated to him, and bought some of his gear. I'm hoping that he is my next President more than anything. But, I also realize that he is in his seventies, just as VP Biden is. But after Bernie's 8 years in office, I'd like to have someone in the role of VP be able to pick up the torch and go another 8 years.
Someone like O'Malley or possibly Russ Feingold would be a great choice.

(164 posts)(to me anyway) that the corporate interests want him to run so that the anti-HRC vote is divided, so that they can present HRC vs. Biden as the big story, and so that if something happens to Hillary, they'd have someone in their pocket.
Also, I'm not sure he's be such a strong candidate. The Iraq War and the billions of dollars it cost is still a big issue voters. He voted for the war in Iraq, and as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, played a crucial role in the whole WMD charade.

I was PRAYING that a septuagenarian white male candidate from the bankster/Hyde-Amendment/credit-card-cartel wing of the party would save up from the grassroots of the Democratic party!
