Carson doubles down on no Muslims in the White House

Source: The Hill

Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson is standing by his view that a Muslim should not be president of the United States, telling The Hill in an interview on Sunday that whoever takes the White House should be “sworn in on a stack of Bibles, not a Koran.”

Carson ignited a media firestorm in a Sunday morning interview with Chuck Todd on "Meet the Press," in which he said he “would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation.”

...snip...

In an interview with The Hill, Carson opened up about why he believes a Muslim would be unfit to serve as commander in chief.

“I do not believe Sharia is consistent with the Constitution of this country,” Carson said. “Muslims feel that their religion is very much a part of your public life and what you do as a public official, and that’s inconsistent with our principles and our Constitution.”

I agree...the Bible is a much better platform:

she shall be brought to the door of her father's house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death.

If a man commits adultery with another man's wife--with the wife of his neighbor--both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death.

Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.

He doesn't even know, "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." That's article VI, paragraph 3 of the US constitution.

Clueless? Check.

What's scary is way too few people know that anymore too.

I think it was a valid issue even on DU. Santorum was the Catholic Taliban.

I don't think the Kennedy clan had (or has) the same super-right-wing Catholic fervor as Santorum. They were more "normal" in that sense.

see the parallel, but somehow with religion involved it seems to be viewed differently. It was also the African American vote (70%) organized through the churches that passed Proposition 8 banning gay marriage in California.

The President takes and oath to support and defend the Constitution. Why not take the oath with one hand on a copy of the Constitution?
