Girl, 16, charged in gasoline attack on 2 school guards

Source: AP

By JOE MANDAK

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police say a 16-year-old girl poured gasoline on two Pennsylvania high school security guards and unsuccessfully tried to ignite it using a grill lighter.

Wilkinsburg student Imani Knight-Brantley is in jail after being charged as an adult.

Police say the girl told them she returned to school angry on Monday because of an earlier confrontation with one of the guards. They say the teen says the guard called her names and put her in a headlock Friday.

Online court records don't list an attorney for the girl. She was arraigned Tuesday on charges including aggravated assault and risking a catastrophe.

FULL short story at link.

I've known some out-of-control students but a headlock? Totally uncalled for/unnecessary, no matter what kind of guard-dissing she was doing.

"The girl's grandmother told police that neither her granddaughter nor the school told her about the Friday confrontation."

What she claims and what really happened are not necessarily the same thing. Although she does admit to throwing an open milk carton at him.

"Murray told police the girl became upset when he again escorted her from school property, told her she was being suspended and had to return Monday with her guardian. The girl screamed at him and threw an open milk carton, which hit him in the head, Murray told police.

Knight-Brantley told police she threw the milk at Murray only after he slapped a food tray she was holding, and that he also put her in a headlock and threatened to bite her. She also told police that a friend overheard Murray using a crude term to describe her."
