Nebraska judge reaffirms ruling allowing gays and lesbians to become foster parents

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Martha Stoddard

LINCOLN — A state judge has reaffirmed his ruling striking down Nebraska’s ban on gays and lesbians becoming foster parents.

However, Lancaster County District Judge John Colborn clarified his earlier ruling with an amended order issued last week.

The new order directs the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services to treat gay and lesbian individuals and couples the same as heterosexual individuals and couples when it comes to becoming foster or adoptive parents.

It also clarified that the best interests of the child should be the standard used in evaluating all potential foster or adoptive parents.

FULL story at link.

"It also clarified that the best interests of the child should be the standard used in evaluating all potential foster or adoptive parents."
..then you need to totally evaluate the (supposed) new parent and I don't mean judged by a social worker unless she/he has degree in subjects such as Psychiatry. I mean, these children are going to have to live with these people for many years. I believe the populace should certainly pay for a TOTAL evaluation of the parents or in short, the full person.
A sociopath can fool even learned people but a person who deals with such people will, most likely, be able to spot such a person.
With sociopaths making up somewhere between 2 to 7 percent of the population, I think we need to be thorough in this bonding.
