Reality show's ghost-hunting couple dead in Nevada standoff
Source: SF Gate/AP
Police stormed a Nevada apartment after a standoff and found a Nevada couple who appeared as ghost hunters in the reality television show "Ghost Adventures."
Mark and Debby Constantino were found dead Tuesday in a barricaded Sparks apartment. Officials weren't releasing a cause of death.
The couple was featured in recent years on the Travel Channel's series, including episodes shot at the Mustang Ranch brothel east of Reno, the Goldfield Hotel and the Market Street Cinema in San Francisco.
A SWAT team responding to a hostage situation found their bodies when officers stormed their adult daughter's apartment near Sparks High School following an hours-long standoff on Tuesday.

(1,973 posts)he had killed one of her roommates earlier in the day
suspect fired shots at the officers when they arrived at the location where he was holding his wife hostage but police still negotiated with him for hours to try to get him to surrender and end the situation without further bloodshed
police never fired any shots

(1,973 posts)at least one other woman lived at the home with the 2 victims
the suspect was arrested about 6 six weeks ago for kidnapping and domestic battery by strangulation. a judge later allowed him to bond out of jail and ordered him to stay away from the wife
kidnapping is usually a no bail charge in this area

(40,416 posts)Hopefully it will not appear on a future Psychic Detectives episode. But that is probably an inevitable outcome. Rational folks would prefer that the detectives use science and technology to find the perps.
In the meantime, light a candle for their families.
One must ignore the fact that ghosts do not exist and that this couple were scamming. Nobody deserves to die for that. Apparently a murder suicide.

(40,416 posts)Between 38,000 and 78,000 tons of meteors hit the Earth each year, mostly in the oceans, which cover about 3/4 of the Earth's surface. Sometimes we see big ones, but most are the size of beach sand, or smaller.
But that's a lot of shit crashing down on Earth, every day.

(2,334 posts)I've been fiddling with scopes since I was a child. The instruments were my interest the Astronomy was secondary. I still have some refractors. I've also been privileged to have witnessed some bolides over the years. As an atheist ghost hunter I find the "ghosts don't exist" too easy. If a person were to desire to look into it then I would encourage that person find that 'night sky'. I didn't ask to be a witness to the phenomena but I'm not going to deny it and make myself a hypocrite. I don't believe in the 'supernatural', I think of this as an aspect of the Cosmos that I do not understand.

(2,060 posts)Besides asking the obvious question, "How did this guy who was out on bond for kidnapping and battery have access to a gun?", an equally pressing question has to be asked: "Will a future episode of 'Ghost Adventures' now try and contact the recently deceased?"

(53,235 posts)the bullshit on TV that encourages stupid people to get MORE stupid. No, I'm not talking about "the news" now. These shows, like the ghost ones, that take advantage of people's gullibility are why we have stupid people voting for GOP assholes.

(3,041 posts)My fiance's aunt is addicted to those shows, but she is very smart and not at all gullible when it comes to most other things in life. And she would never in a million years vote Republican. We just laugh and respect her as a person who differs from us in some ways.
Stereotypes are not very useful.
