GOP leader accidentally tells the truth about Benghazi committee
Source: MSNBC _ By Steve Benen - 09/30/15 08:40 AM EDT
Even die-hard GOP partisans sometimes find it difficult to justify the House Republicans Benghazi committee. .... the deadly 2012 attack was already examined by seven other congressional committees ..... the investigation is the longest in the history of the United States .... GOP-led committee has conducted itself in such a way as to raise concerns that the entire endeavor is little more than a taxpayer-funded election scheme.
.... House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) the likely next Speaker of the House and his interview on Fox News last night. Roll Call reported this morning on the Republican leaders on-air comments:
.... Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right?
But we put together a Benghazi special committee. A select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because shes untrustable. But no one would have known that any of that had happened had we not fought to make that happen.
Michael Kinsley once said a political gaffe occurs when a politician accidentally tells the truth. ......

(1,144 posts)The email thing too is a waste of time and money. I've seen several editorials saying, "Yeah, there's nothing here, but Hilary Clinton didn't handle it right."
How exactly do you handle a nationwide coordinated bullying attack by the media?

(12,212 posts)They tried the same thing with Obama. They just keep hitting away at things over and over hoping it will eventually givemeanwhile, they don't do anything else to help fix the country.
I detest them. Selfish bastardsall the way down the line.

(104 posts)After all this Benghazi and server stuff, HRC has developed a rep for untrustworthiness among her formerly staunch supporters and it has effected her once daunting numbers. The Repug crap-spewing machine spreads its mendacity on Repugs and Dems alike, it seems.

(27,315 posts)BTW, did you know he was single-handedly responsible of the reduction in deficit since he is majority leader (good to know deficit was reduced). Anyway, the interview is full of "I".
May be Mark Levin is right for once: McCarthy is just Cantor with 10 less IQ points .

(6,679 posts)I've known door knobs smarter than Cantor. I'm not real familiar with McCarthy but if he's worse off then I have to wonder who ties his shoes?

(5,402 posts)For DU-ers supporting anyone-but-clinton, it's not about Benghazi. But you already knew that.

(10,495 posts)Tried to say that on another post, but was blocked as it was on the Hillary Group site and all of us have been banned.
I haven't left my objectivity at the door. I am fighting to get rid of corporate and Plutocratic control over our government and support Bernie in his fight to do so, but I will call BS when I see it and Benghazi has always been only about BS!

(5,818 posts)by Sean Hannity is at http://video.foxnews.com/v/4519442873001/rep-kevin-mccarthy-how-he-would-differ-from-john-boehner/?#sp=show-clips . See his gaffe starting at about 4 minutes 10 seconds in. Hannity, apparently realizing the danger to the taxpayer-funded anti-Hillary operation from what McCarthy was saying, cuts him off by talking over him. The whole gaffe is over in about 50 seconds because of Hannity's interruption. IMO, McCarthy would have said many more damaging things had it not been for Hannity's intervention. Apparently, McCarthy badly needs media coaching, is not nearly ready to be third in line for the Presidency, and may be a real moron.
