Recreational pot users score bags of bud at Oregon shops

Source: Statesman Journal

Eager night owls looking to score some of the first recreational pot in Oregon bought up baggies of bud at shops that opened early Thursday, some taking advantage of door-buster deals.

Some of the more than 250 dispensaries that already offer medical marijuana welcomed lines of enthusiasts soon after midnight — just moments after it became legal to sell to anyone who is at least 21. There were no reports of problems from early sales, although most stores planned to open at a more reasonable hour.

At Portland's Shango Premium Cannabis, co-founder Shane McKee said the first sale to an excited customer came about a minute after midnight, with many others waiting. He called the moment significant.

"I think it's not only historical for folks in Oregon but nationwide — anytime people start selling that as an alternative to alcohol or tobacco," he said in a telephone interview shortly after midnight.

Might be a less biased headline.

Most newspapers have gotten bored with the Pot lingo puns. I guess the statesman needs to catch up.

6. The Oregonian "Newspaper" Will Never Stop Reporting on Pot and Beer

The "newspaper" in our area here in Oregon will always write about beer and pot. They live for it. They have been pushing for the legalization of pot and the easing of controls on booze because their owners are Libertarians.

I voted to legalize pot because the laws were so draconian and mostly were a way to put Blacks and Latinos and women living with
dealers in jail. White people rarely did jail time for pot. Very unfair.

But I do fear that with legalization young people will get lost in Lalaland more and more and fail to push politically for what they really need like free college and help with decent jobs and help for young families.

8. You can expect new reporting into the increase in marijuana use by kids, and in accidents, which

is rising at an alarming rate, it is written. They will copy the stories from Colorado and Washington, I suspect.

This is invigorating the anti-pot bigots, already cranking out new lies and propaganda. They want it all illegal again, and if the new racist head of the DEA has anything to do with it, they will.
