Exclusive: NBC’s Andy Lack to Meet with Keith Olbermann on Possible MSNBC Return
Source: mediaite
So now that afternoons are settled and with Lack basically confirming to Variety what was exclusively reported here last month regarding the likely expansion of Morning Joe (an additional hour extending to 10:00 AM EST), the last piece of the puzzle appears to be primetime. Note: 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM will remain safely in the hands of Rachel Maddow and Lawrence ODonnell, leaving 8:00 PM (All in with Chris Hayes) as the next possible timeslot for alteration. So with all of that said, a well-placed source now informs me that a meeting has been set between Olbermann and Lack to discuss his return to the network and his old 8:00 PM slot. This arrangement was something that Mediaites Andrew Kirell first wrote about as a rumor in July; when asked for comment, a network executive with knowledge close to the situation tells me, It is patently untrue.

(2,955 posts)But, alas, as much as I agree with Keith's politics, the man's an asshole whose mouth gets him in trouble every time. He's awesome, but he's somewhat of a liability.

(13,190 posts)And keep Christ Hayes where he is.Sometimes he gets on my nerve when he tries to debate republicans but he's the best thing we got to a progressive on air.

(675 posts)They are certainly taking advantage of it in promos but they are still ready to shitcan him.

(856 posts)IMHO, Chris Hayes will be in another time slot-- Reading the entire article it seemed that Chris H. time slot will be changed.

(19,537 posts)Since arguably that is probably what lost Ed his job earlier when he wasn't wanting to do things the corporate way!

Hayes was never a favorite but seems to be the only one giving Bernie good air time ...must be time to fire him.
Rachel has turned into a total disappointment.

(15,435 posts)MSNBC is now KNOWN to be the Hillary Channel! Love Keith, but it won't bring me back to that place! Callers who call into place like Stephanie Miller and Thom Hartmann (mostly his show) call it The Hillary Channel!
Can't do it! Even Rachel seems to be OK with this! Maybe Chris Hayes has had enough because he seems to be very interested in the environment AND he has had Bennie on his show a couple of times.
Can't do it.

The management of MSNCBC appears to be a bunch of douchebags but even they should not have to put up with the infantile behavior of this privileged prima donna.

(12,882 posts)until his two Prima Donna exits from the pulpits that were HIS to command. Now, while I might still find his presentations amusing, I'd have to wonder just how deep that angry water really runs.

(32,723 posts)She said they didn't know there were enough Liberals in the country to fill a Denney's and Bernie is filling stadiums.
Same goes for the Suits at the networks. They look at the ratings for FOX "News" and believe the country wants conservatives on the air. FOX "News" is happy to tell them that too and also to tell them Liberal programming is a proven loser.
Also, despite repeatedly being exposed as liars it's still considered to be "brave" to stand up to Conservatives.

(12,655 posts)close to speaking for progressives now that Rachel has drunk the Kool-Aid, and the only one who actually won an award for that network, is going to be pushed aside for someone who's going to have a good run for maybe a year or two and then flameout again after he gets into a big brawl with somebody in management.
sooooooo glad i turned off that channel after they tried (unsuccessfully) to sllence ed
LynneSin
(95,337 posts)the way Faux News viewers watch it.
Most Faux News viewers will sit in front of the TV and watch Faux News all night because they need Faux News to tell them it's ok that as extremist right-wing narrow minded idiots that it's ok they think like that and it's the rest of the world that is wrong.
Why would MSNBC need to create a Cable Channel that thinks progressives are going to sit on their ass and do the same thing especially since much of the modern world actually isn't narrow minded folks.

(12,655 posts)i listen to eds podcast, and he said back in the summer that his audience was tied with what used to be on the msnbc channel, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's passed it by now.
hayes is the last person there even worth possibly watching imo.
bunch of flunkees running that disaster

(6,828 posts)Keith alone got me through the entirety of the GW Bush 21st Century DARK AGES.
I love Keith!
He's up there with Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert as far as modern professional journalism goes.
I wasn't privy to Keith's suffering of management fools, but I would like to think I would have the integrity Keith did when he had his issues with "management". But on his pay scale, NOT MINE!

(95,337 posts)Just saying.
I've already moved on from MSNBC about 3-4 years ago. And it wasn't because of Olbermann's firing or the hiring of idiots like Chuck Todd.
It's because I'm not a progressive version of the Faux News Viewer. I do not need to sit in front of my TV set all night having some progressive minded person slant the news story to the left and feed me talking points I can recite to my friends, family and random people on the internet. I'd rather just read/watch the news unslanted and form my own opinion. The only time I kinda enjoy watching MSNBC is during the big news nights like the Conventions or Election night. Outside of that I don't need it.
When MSNBC realizes that progressives do not watch news the way conservatives do maybe they'll start showing us the news and stop trying to cater to the idea that we need opinions fed to us. We're smarter than the average Cable News viewer.

They Fire the ones who Don't "tow the Corporate line" as soon as they start discussing the reality about real issues.
KO got fired, imo-because he wouldn't play by the corporate rules.
I no longer "trust" the other ones I used to watch...well, because they're Still there says they're willing to play the fkg Corporate Game.
I'm not entirely sure I'd return to M$NBCBS if KO were to return.......

(50,983 posts)Fuck 'em.
V0ltairesGh0st
(306 posts)I would set the terms from the get go...if they want him back... he calls the shots ...period.. or no deal. Since bringing back KO would be a given to boost ratings. Personally if it were me Id tell them the fact they fired Ed Schultz and are leaning on the rest of the lineup to keep their liberal thoughts and feelings out of the show content (specifically Rachel Maddow),and just basically trying to kill anything progressive ( Especially Bernie Sanders Campaign). If they just want to be another right-wing/wall street ass kiss network like their hero's over at FOX, then forget it.

They just canned Ed over the TPP.
I hope it happens but it would only happen if Griffin and the other honchos cave and let him go where he wants to go.

(2,574 posts)Rachel and Chris kept me tuning in after KO left. I enjoy ODonnell too. Surely they can find a slot for Keith without losing their other three most intelligent hosts.
I would not miss Chris Matthews at all. Seems also that it will be a violation of MSNBC's "ethics" to keep him on the schedule if
Matthews wife runs for Congress. They once suspended KO just for making a modest political donation.
