SANAA, Yemen Two airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition killed at least 15 civilians and wounded 25 others in Yemen on Wednesday at a wedding hosted by a tribal leader known to support the Houthi rebels, witnesses and independent security officials said.
The strikes targeted the home of the tribal leader in Sanban, a region in Dhamar province 113 km (70 miles) southeast of the capital, Sanaa, the officials and witnesses said.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media. Witnesses declined to give their names for fear of reprisals.
There was no immediate coalition comment. The coalition last week denied that its airstrikes hit a wedding party Sept. 28, killing more than 130 people in the deadliest single event of Yemen's civil war.

(23,946 posts)And now there are credible calls to investigate both America and Saudi for war crimes in Afghanistan and for America and Saudi in Yemen, with America providing refuelling takers and intelligence for Saudi bombers:

"Amnesty International investigated 13 airstrikes which took place during May, June and July in and around Sada governorate. These strikes killed some 100 civilians including 59 children and 22 women and injured a further 56, including 18 children. Amnesty International found that strikes which killed and injured civilians and destroyed civilian property and infrastructure were frequently disproportionate or indiscriminate and in some instances they appeared to have directly targeted civilians or civilian objects. Such attacks violate international humanitarian law and constitute war crimes."
Has the world finally had enough of having to clean up after America fucks things up eveywhere with their cowboy mentality and cowboy politics?

(6,736 posts)Would the Saudi's deliberately target a wedding? Would anyone deliberately target a wedding?
I've no love for the Saudi's. But I wont call them stupid. And when you are fighting as much for hearts and minds as land and power the LAST thing you want to do is bomb a wedding.
But you do, in a war, want to bomb your enemy. Your enemy knows this and hides. You try to find him. You are now in the twisty world of intelligence.
Somewhere, someone the Saudis believed in, told them that a bomb at that location at that time would kill a bunch of enemies. Why do that?
To make the other guy look evil.
Someone fed false information in order to get someone else to commit a horrible action, thus sacrificing their own innocents in order to to make that someone else look evil.
The Saudi's aren't blameless. They got suckered by the false intel. They failed due diligence by not doing their own separate examination of the time/place, which would have easily found out about the wedding. perhaps they were incompetent. Perhaps they were lazy. Perhaps they didn't care. In the latter two cases they are a little evil.
But the person or persons who created and spread the false info? THAT'S real evil.
But the news isn't talking about that. It should. Anyone who's able to think past skin level information should be talking about that.

If there ever was a cancer in the middle east the house of Saud is it.
