Obama won't shrink from 2016 race
Source: Politico
President Barack Obama heads into the 2016 campaign season in a position few in the White House or anywhere else expected a year ago: in demand.
The president and his aides are expecting to capitalize on that popularity, according to people familiar with the planning, taking a more active role this election cycle than during last years midterms. Those plans include Obama hitting the campaign trail as early as the spring to help unite the party after the primaries and to sound off on Republicans he portrays as not serious enough for prime time.
Hes been watching the race come together so far and has been eager to dip in, already taking swings at Donald Trump, Mike Huckabee and Jeb Bush, among others.
Obamas expected to be active in House and Senate races, too, mostly in fundraising, but in other ways as well, given a Senate map thats the flip side of 2014, with most competitive races in blue and Obama-friendly states.

(30 posts)In the eyes of the greater sphere of 'Politics', it's still too early to tell who will be the nominee. But I expect that our President will back the nominee, whoever it is. Perhaps it's a little early to bring the (lite) passive aggression out, right now? We should be happy that Obama will be active, as compared to inactive or silent. Rather then discussing who he will support. I for one believe he will support the /Democratic/ candidate.

(85,373 posts)If that is his dream, it's a candidate's nightmare. Especially with TPP coming up for debate, Ed Snowden still exiled, and the economy on the brink of 1929 AGAIN.
No coat tails. Never were.
