Texas raids several Planned Parenthood facilities, group says

Source: Reuters

Texas officials raided several Planned Parenthood facilities on Thursday, the group said, in a move that comes days after the state's Republicans leaders barred the women's health group from receiving state Medicaid money.

The raids were carried out at Planned Parenthood health centers in Houston, Dallas and San Antonio by representatives from the Texas Office of the Inspector General.

The Inspector General's office declined to comment. Its agents were seen on local news reports entering a Planned Parenthood facility in San Antonio.

Texas, the most populous Republican-controlled U.S. state, said it would launch a probe of Planned Parenthood after the release of videos in July by anti-abortion activist group Center for Medical Progress in which a Planned Parenthood official is seen talking about transactions involving fetal tissue.

We are watching with our breaths held. The only positive is that I know a lot of moderate to R-voting women down here who feel the GOP is crossing a line in Texas.

What "line" did they think the fundy right wing nutballs in Texas would respect? This is nothing new or surprising. These people are dedicated to stamping out legal abortions by ANY means necessary, and have been for decades, and still they voted for them. A little late for these women to be seeing the light, don't you think?

That's what the GOP wanted all along. Pat Robertson surely has a John Boehner now. The GOP death squads are here to stay. The false-xtian/neoliberal paradise utopia cannot give women the right to control their own bodies. Hello Stalin, hello Hitler.

It's natural law. Never mind that the Bible doesn't include it and that nature aborts babies too. It's about control and their really freaky base.

POTUS and all of them just roll over on their backs. It is out of control how much crap happens like this. Cops shooting pets and people, raids based on lies, taking over of State Government functions and allowing firings and cuts to programs, water or services....the list goes on yet no one does a damned thing about it.
This is why I want massive change in Government. It just keep getting worse and worse.

Personally, I think Cruz, Perry, and other top Republicans, as well RTL and the RNC were either in on the planning, or planned it themselves and hired Daleiden to do the dirty work. Especially Cruz, because he's been leading the crusade, and it looks to me like this May have been done to propel him to the White House in 2016. Raiding the clinics on these obviously trumped up charges, probably with search warrants, would also indicate some corrupt attorneys and judges to go along with it. IMO, It's been done to intimidate women, and also to give GOPer politicians something to grandstand about.

They just had a house cleaning after catching the Rick Perry appointees up to no good. The new crop seems to have the same problem. OIG is nothing but a dis-functional attack dog of the Texas Republicans.

They started a new food stamp fraud unit and hired 27 people, only two were women. The new supervisor who did not do the hiring (he was hired last), immediately fired one woman and kept trying to fire my wife, except she had filed FMLA paperwork. After threatening her multiple times he finally did it and just did not list a reason. No exit interview, nothing. He even left out the HR Dept., and legal. After we hired an attorney he was suddenly fired himself and his supervisor was re-assigned. Now they have a unit of all men, mostly white ex-cops, who are supposed to go into the suspected stores and pose as food stamp recipients wanting to sell their food stamp credits illegally. Most of the suspected stores are in poor neighborhoods (heavy minority areas). Good luck! Our tax dollars at work, NOT!

Because if this warrant is based on a video that was falsely presented as fact, then that group and that individuals(s) will have to appear in court and testify, on how the tape was made who edited the tape, ect......including everyone in the tape.
Since the congressional right wing hypocrites did not call the individual(s) that made this tape were not called to testify, then Planned Parenthood has a right to meet there accuser in a court of law

Margaret, in our day women were expected to sit down and be quiet about most things and especially about politics. As you know, I was never very good at being a woman in my day.

Greg Abbott has decided his personal religious beliefs are more important than the health of poor women. His lies should tell you how little moral conviction he really has. That man makes about as much sense as tits on a bull.

Women of Texas put on your big girl panties and prepare to roar!

Here is the number to call if you have comments for that Asshat Governor Greg Abbott: 512-463-1782.

Officials with the inspector general's office at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission went to two facilities in Houston as well as clinics in Dallas, San Antonio and Brownsville. The Brownsville center does not perform abortions.
