By Dan Merica,
Amherst, Massachusetts (CNN)Bernie Sanders' campaign rally here was briefly interrupted Saturday when a man wearing a Donald Trump shirt began shouting at the senator.
"Shame on you Bernie," the man said as he stood up in the third row of the auditorium, feet from the Democratic presidential candidate.
"Here is a Trump supporter," Sanders said from the stage, causing the entire crowd to boo the proud protester as he was being escorted out by Sanders' staff.
The man, who fist-pumped as he exited the room, also held a sign that read, "Obama is as Christian as Bruce Jenner is a woman."

(4,113 posts)Nothing of substance. Attack Obama's religion. Attack others' sexual orientation. Fear! Fear! Fear! And on and on.
Ask a Trump supporter what their candidate stands for and how he will make this country better, and they can't give you an answer other than the baseless crap I wrote earlier.

(28,627 posts)the guy looked like a skinhead

(2,025 posts)Not all skinheads are racist. The original skinhead movement was a fusion of black and white music, and there's still a lot of anti racist skinheads about (in the UK at least). Don't insult all skinheads by comparing them to this arsehole.

(2,025 posts)Sometimes people's preconceptions are so strong they can't accept anything that runs counter to that. I've not been ridiculed but I've had a few arguments. A load of skinheads used to drink in my local pub every Sunday. They'd all turn up on their Vespas and Lambrettas and stick all the Ska music on the jukebox. They were a really nice bunch of people.
There's always been shaven headed right wing idiots going back to the Nazis, but they're not skinheads.

(1,935 posts)The protester was politely and peacefully escorted out. I wonder what would happen if a Bernie supporter interrupted a Trump speech?

(59,475 posts)This was announced a couple of days ago. The Vermont Republican party has distanced itself and there are protests being spoken about -- such as having people with signs line the two main roads from the airport to the place where he is speaking and a candle light rally across the street from it.
Yesterday, many people I saw at a large non political party were just upset that he was coming to our town. One candidate for governor, suggested that that day be a day of service or charitable contributions including supporting efforts backing the Syrian refugees. That and a peaceful candle light event might be good.

(58,724 posts)Even assuming his assertions I true - what difference does it make?
This is the power of distracting folks to care about issues that don't impact them in any way and ignore those that do.

(4,113 posts)Better and less-expensive health care - Socialized, commie medicine
Allow students not to be burdened with debt - Creating another class of welfare recipients who won't work
Trying to take better care of their newborn children - Ditto
These are the results of 25+ years of Faux Snooze, RW talk shows and half-assed mainstream news coverage on this country. They have emboldened the stupid and the ignorant to where they come out in public and proudly display themselves.
