Chicago lawyer resigns after judge rules he hid evidence

CHICAGO (AP) — A top city of Chicago lawyer stepped down after a federal judge accused him of hiding evidence in a fatal police shooting, the latest allegation of wrongdoing amid ongoing scrutiny of how the city deals with such cases.

Separately, the city agency that investigates police shootings vowed greater transparency, saying Monday that it would start divulging some details of active cases as it tries to bolster public confidence in the process.

Since November, Chicago has been dealing with fallout from the release of a video showing a white officer fatally shooting black teenager Laquan McDonald. The video prompted protests and led to a wide-ranging civil rights investigation of the entire police department by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Monday's 72-page opinion from U.S. District Judge Edmond Chang was part of a civil lawsuit brought by relatives of Darius Pinex, a black man, who was shot and killed by police during a 2011 traffic stop in Chicago.

I wonder if this asshole is some sort of relative to that store....Jordan has no picture of any kind, no address other than city hall, no family that you can find, and he resigned, and I did not see any comments from our friend Jordan..and the announcement was made last night..I bet he left much earlier, or was warned that this was coming and has already taken a nice long vacation where no one can ask him any questions about this...Mayor Rahm ...at some point will be held accountable..what do you think he will say?????

I think it is a bald headed guy walking around in a dark coat with sun glasses..looking like he is trying to leave the scene of a jewel robbery..that is one picture that repeatedly turned up in stories about him...I don't know nothing said Sargent Shultz..........

4. Look what it took to take a city attorney down. The federal judge had to rule

and pronounce him a criminal. But I am convinced it only happened with national attention.

Here in Florida, the federal judge would have allowed the parties to settle their differences out of court and include an agreement with a confidentiality clause that would only give them cover. That's what happens when the media becomes complicit in deceiving the public. Only public outrage can change the outcome.
