Eric Johnson Arrested In Road Rage Shooting of Sara Mutschlechner

Source: Huffington Post

Authorities have arrested a U.S. Marine in connection with the killing of University of North Texas junior Sara Mutschlechner, 20, who was shot in a road rage incident early on New Year's Day.

According to the U.S. Marshal Service, Cpl. Eric Jamal Johnson, 20, was arrested on Tuesday at a Marine Corps air station in Yuma, Arizona. Johnson, is being held without bond on a murder warrant obtained by police in Denton, Texas. It remains unclear if Johnson has an attorney or plans to fight extradition to Texas.

At a Tuesday news conference, Shane Kizer, a spokesman for the Denton Police Department, said Mutschlechner was acting as a designated driver for a New Year's Eve party that she and a group attended. She was taking three passengers home early in the morning when a dark-colored SUV with several occupants pulled up next to Mutschlechner's car and initiated a conversation.

"It was an amicable conversation to begin with, but quickly went downhill and some derogatory statements were made toward the female occupants of that vehicle," Kizer said, adding that some of the comments were of a "sexual nature."

His particular brand of crazy came from somewhere else. Some other facts about him. He was part of a trio of rappers (Daytona Boyz) that performed at the house party that the victim and her friend attended. He propositioned the victim and her friend in a highly inappropriate fashion (his group told the victim and her friend that they wanted to f___k them). When the group in the victim's car took exception to the words, he is accused of firing at least two shots into the car hitting the victim.

The shooting should not be characterized as road rage. It has more in common with the California mass shooter Eliot Rodger or our Iowa mall shooter Alexander Kozak. He is an entitled misogynist with a gun.

With open carry now legal, etc.

We're going backwards instead of forward. I thank the President for trying to inject some common sense into the gun equation, but the nuts in Texas (and elsewhere) just don't get it.

If there was no gun in the car, there couldn't have been a shooting.
