Gabby Giffords to endorse Hillary Clinton
Former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords attends a news conference outside Safeway grocery store where they asked Congress to provide stricter gun control in the United States on March 6, 2013 in Tucson, Arizona.

Former Rep. Gabby Giffords, D-Arizona, is expected to endorse Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, a source close to Giffords tells CBS News.
Giffords and her husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly, will officially announce their endorsement of the candidate later this week, with Clinton's position on gun control playing a role in their decision.
...............................
Giffords, herself a gun owner, sat front row at the president's emotional press conference last week, where he announced new executive actions that would expand background checks on firearm sales and close the so-called "gun-show loophole." Giffords and Kelly, in numerous private meetings with the White House, helped lead the effort around defining what it means to be "in the business" of selling guns, which provided the basis of the president's recent background check initiatives.
Since launching her second presidential campaign, Clinton has rolled out new proposals for gun safety, which fall in line with the president's latest executive actions on closing regulatory loopholes. Clinton has also proposed holding manufacturers liable for crimes committed with their products.

(24,324 posts)this is not primarily a 'one issue' endorsement because Bernie Sanders has so much more to offer than Hillary Clinton.

(93,839 posts)Gabby can endorse whomever she wants for whatever reason she wants. You are entitled to accept or ignore her endorsement.

... sounds rather angry, vengeful, threatening... your sig line photo doesn't help, either...
Have a mellow evening, onehandle, and a nice, non-angry, mañana.

(13,889 posts)Given that Hillary has made gun safety a central part of her platform and that this is now Gabby Giffords' signature issue, I think you should give that factor at least as much weight as her personal friendships.

(10,164 posts)Despite Hillary's increasingly-desperate attempts to assert that there's any real, meaningful difference between them on gun control, there's no way in hell I'm supporting a Third Way corporatist. If I have to hold my nose and vote for her in the primary (not that Oregon's going to go GOP, regardless), fine...but until that occurs, Hillary Clinton can sod off.

So her endorsement does not surprise me.

(30,058 posts)not been changed five years ago by a gunman who did not respect the lives of others. People lost lives because this person decided he needed to "improperly use a gun he possessed". I can not imagine the changes in life style Gabby has endured, I would not want this to be me or my family members, it is time to change and learn to be compassionate.
