NBC invites Martin O'Malley to debate Clinton, Sanders

Source: USA Today

David Jackson

NBC News invited all three Democratic presidential candidates to debate Sunday night in Charleston, S.C., including Martin O'Malley.

There had been some doubt whether O'Malley would be included under polling criteria announced by NBC last week, but the network included the former Maryland governor, along with Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, when it made its formal announcement Thursday

"The forum will be the presidential hopefuls’ final chance to face each other directly and make their cases to a national audience before the first ballots are cast in Iowa and New Hampshire," NBC noted.

The debate comes in the wake of polls showing Clinton and Sanders nearly tied ahead of the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 1 and with Sanders in the lead in New Hampshire, which hosts a primary on Feb. 9. O'Malley, who had protested his possible exclusion from the debate in South Carolina, is well back in third place in all three states and nationally.

they got to debate, ruling came at 6:50pm, ten minutes prior. They said you had to have 8 percent. They used polls showing less. They ignored three that should the candidate over the said amount. Judge ruled in favor of the candidate to debate based on the criteria.

and there are only 3 candidates, so I am ok with him being on the stage--for now. It's a different ballgame once the voting starts.

Most likely, Clinton and Sanders will just ignore him.

he now has national name recognition and he seems relatively young, so maybe a national placement, or retool for 8 years from now and start forming his version of the new style of politics...real people. He doesn't seem like a likely VP.

last thing Clinton and her people want is one on one debate with Bernie.O'Malley can limit time bernie has speaking especily if moderater tries to turn it into clinton show.I am sure O'Malley will be critical of her too and speak different than her on the issues.
He's more sincere than CLinton is.

That's OK, Sanders isn't depending on the debates. We've known from day one how the deck is stacked and his campaign has adapted pretty well.

decision. I don't think they give a shit about fairness. Hillary's name recognition is already at 100%, and Bernie's is not. Having Martin there is just another way to dilute Bernie's camera time and give the moderator more opportunities to use slight of hand when dealing out the questions.

but keeps claiiming he is most capable and in last debate turned to open attacks on both Bernie and hillary. The first wasnot selling and the second seemed over the top. He certainly does not have many supporters here in Ohio and no matter how he can get here they will not count since he will not be on the ballot here either on the primary or the general election ballot. He did not even have Ohio resident petition circulators to help the Maryland people sent in gather just 1000 valid signatures, an amount either Hillary or Bernie could get in a day in any large city in Ohio such as Clevelnand, Toledo, Cincinnati, or Dayton. I think he is just thinking of himself and his future bids for elective office and id wasting his volunteers and our tim e. His ideas are not very different than Bernie and although he is profuse at laying them out, we see little difference. of substance from what Bernie advocates .He just is not a good campaigner.

7. Supporter the Dream Act

9. Reformed Maryland’s tax code to make it more progressive.
10. Enacted some of the nation’s most comprehensive reforms to protect homeowners from foreclosure.

Mother Jones magazine called him the best candidate on environmental issues.

As Governor of Maryland, O’Malley implemented some of the toughest measures in the nation to reduce gun violence. He put in place licensing, fingerprinting, background checks, and safety training requirements for all buyers. If a firearm was lost or stolen, owners were required to immediately notify law enforcement. And Maryland prohibited the sale of assault weapons and limited the size of magazines—all while protecting the state’s proud hunting tradition.

Governor O’Malley is calling for the nation to adopt similar, commonsense reforms—while also closing loopholes that allow prohibited individuals to easily purchase guns, prevent law enforcement from holding dealers and gun traffickers accountable when they break the law, and lead to the deaths of thousands of children every year. These proven solutions are achievable at a national scale—if, as a nation, we have the courage and conviction to do the right thing.

As mayor of Baltimore, Governor O’Malley was selected by his fellow mayors to co-chair the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Homeland Security Task Force.

As Governor of Maryland, O’Malley was selected by his fellow governors to co-chair the National Governors Association’s Special Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano selected Governor O’Malley to serve as a key external adviser on the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC).

As an HSAC member, Governor O’Malley was selected to chair Task Forces on Violent Extremism and Community Resilience.

Governor O’Malley has been a national advocate for homeland security support and resources, delivering addressees on homeland security at the Democratic Leadership Council, National Press Club, Democratic National Convention, and the Center for National Policy, among others, and testifying before the U.S. Congress.

Governor O’Malley has worked as an author, collaborator, and partner with renowned homeland security experts such as Richard Clarke, Gary Hart, and Stephen Flynn.

Looks like anti-depressant + anti-pain. HOPE it does the job.

Cymbalta (duloxetine) is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor antidepressant (SSNRI). Duloxetine affects chemicals in the brain that be unbalanced in people with depression.

Cymbalta is used to treat major depressive disorder in adults. It is also used to treat general anxiety disorder in adults and children who are at least 7 years old.

Cymbalta is also used in adults to treat fibromyalgia (a chronic pain disorder), or chronic muscle or joint pain (such as low back pain and osteoarthritis pain).

Cymbalta is also used to treat pain caused by nerve damage in adults with diabetes (diabetic neuropathy).

perhaps the nerve damage, altho I don't have diabetes.

I'll give it a shot. If it puts me into a comatose situation, I'll drop the whole idea. I told him not to prescribe a lot of it, in case it doesn't work out...I have learned my lesson...

Now off to bed...had to catch the final scene of Gone With The Wind that hubby found channel surfing...like Scarlett says "Tomorrow IS another day."
