Carson staffer dies in Iowa van accident

A 25-year-old staffer for Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson died Tuesday in a car accident that also injured three campaign volunteers. Carson suspended his campaign for the remainder of the day and planned to travel to Omaha where Braden Joplin was being treated at Nebraska Medical Center's trauma center.

The campaign confirmed Tuesday evening that Joplin died as the result of his injuries.

"Braden Joplin died following an auto accident on slick roads near Atlantic, Iowa," the campaign said in a statement. "Three other passengers in the van were treated and released from a hospital in Atlantic, but Joplin's injuries were severe, and he was brought to Nebraska Medical Center's trauma center in critical condition for treatment."

3. How very sad. The guy probably thought he was getting good experience on the front lines of a

campaign, he probably never thought his life would be in danger.

You never know when a terrible accident can claim you, or someone that you care about. I am sure his family is grieving terribly right about now.

Could have been me a decade ago. Campaigns are long hours and lots of travel. All that fatigue and the driving.

I blame Carson and his staff, these kids should not have been out there in those conditions. Carson is a sideshow canidate like Herman Cain, nothing more than a distraction for the fascist, rascist, kkk-tparty gooper fat white scum Xtian mind numbed robots that need a fool in blackface like Carson to absolve them of their lily white privileged easy lives.
Carson should be held responsible for this death and causality, he suspended his campaign cause he doesn't want to answer for his poor judgement.

14. I'm disappointed that you felt the need to make a political dig amid all the sincere comments that

preceded your post. This was a tragedy and you just had to take a shot.

Did all the other campaigns, including Hillary & Bernie, ground their staffs?

While I live in Florida, I'm a civil servant in the DC area. So I spend a fair amount of time shuttling back & forth. We are about to be hit with a massive storm and I have to work Sunday even if the government is on Code Red. I have to be in even if the State and City Governments close the roads.

If I don't make it in and die en-route, I don't want you blaming President Obama or any of the White House Staff. I don't even want you to blame Trump, Cruz, Clinton or Sanders either. I'm over 18 and am a licensed driver. How I handle my car in difficult and dangerous conditions are my decisions and mine alone. Neither the President, Vice President not the Chief of staff are telling me how to get to work.
