Veterans group to Trump: Keep your donations

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)—At least one veteran's group doesn't want any donations from Donald Trump's fundraiser for veterans.

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America founder Paul Rieckhoff tweeted Wednesday that he would decline any contributions that came from the event, which Trump has proposed in place of his attending Fox News' debate this week.

"If offered, @IAVA will decline donations from Trump's event. We need strong policies from candidates, not to be used for political stunts," he said.

Trump stunned the political establishment Tuesday by pulling out of Fox News' GOP debate on Thursday. The debate is being moderated by Trump nemesis Megyn Kelly, with whom he tangled in a Fox debate in August.

This is just another Trump political stunt, meant to get more media attention if that is even possible.

But to me - as a citizen of the USA and as a veteran of said same, I can't fathom WHY there has to be private, donation-funded entities such as IAVA and Wounded Warrior Project to provide ANYTHING the recipient veterans might need? The gobs of money that this nation throws at unworthy recipients WOULD BE able to provide them with whatever they need to be as comfortable and cared for as is every bit necessary - if priorities were as they should be.

Progressive advocacy group VoteVets.org said in statement that Trump should not "hide from Megyn Kelly behind us."

"Let me put this in language Donald Trump understands," Jon Soltz, Iraq War veteran and chairman of VoteVets.org said in a statement. "You're a loser. You're a third-rate politician, who clearly doesn't understand issues, and is so scared of Megyn Kelly exposing it, that you're looking to use veterans to protect you from facing her questions."

I especially like the "third-rate politician" and a "loser."

That must sting...

definitely take money from him. Their ever-increasing for slush money requires it.
