Hillary Clinton wins Georgia, Virginia
Source: AP
WASHINGTON Hillary Clinton claimed Super Tuesday victories in the Georgia and Virginia Democratic primaries, while rival Bernie Sanders carried his home state of Vermont. Republican races in those states were too close to call as polls closed.
Super Tuesday marked the busiest day of the 2016 primaries, with the biggest single-day delegate haul up for grabs. With elections being held in every region of the country, the contests were putting a spotlight on candidates' strengths and weaknesses with a broad swath of American voters.
For Clinton, as well as Republican front-runner Donald Trump, the voting marked an opportunity to begin pulling away from their rivals and charting a course toward the general election. Each entered Super Tuesday having won three of four early voting contests, and more strong showings could start putting the nominations out of reach for other contenders.
Clinton led in both Virginia and Georgia among both men and women, as well as black voters. Sanders continued to show strength with young voters, carrying the majority of those under the age of 30, according to early exit polls conducted by Edison Research for The Associated Press and television networks.

(10,345 posts)Hillary is confirmed to have 11 at this very moment... This very moment where the polls JUST closed...
And she's declared the winner? http://www.politico.com/2016-election/results/map/president/georgia
God damn how fast did they count those votes? Without a link I feel like people are jumping the gun, a bit too much. I mean, the polls just closed 12 minutes ago.

(7,638 posts)And they called it for Sanders just as quick. I didn't see that in your SG post.

(10,345 posts)How many people honestly think there was a chance Bernie would lose Vermont? Anyone? Anyone?

(7,638 posts)I am positive Sanders would win VT. However you went off the rails calling out Clinton projected wins when Sanders was projected to win using the same criteria. It was almost as if you were saying your candidate was being screwed again. It was a bad SG post.

(26,060 posts)all of a sudden? Races have been called as soon as polls close for as long as I remember. Why make it sound like a stupid conspiracy?

(10,345 posts)IT is a surprise to me because I'm a greenhorn politically. If you've read many of my posts on DU, you'll know that this is my first time ever voting and thus, it's my first time tuning in to a presidential race and actually watching.
So forgive my naive questions, they are innocent I assure you. No conspiracies here, just a guy refreshing web pages and trying to make sense of stuff.

(26,060 posts)I really didn't realize you were NEW NEW to voting. Welcome to having a voice eve n when it feels otherwise. Calling races on the basis of exit polls has been going on forever.

(26,280 posts)tonight I am willing to bet that the most likely explanation is that it was just a simple case of human error but if some people want to believe that its because of some vast left wing nutjob conspiracy by the corporate elite media to get Hillary elected they are of course free to do so.

Georgia might as well not exist when it comes to electing a Democratic president.
Keep these maps open as you watch the election result.

(24,555 posts)btw the election today was a primary. All that matters is which democrat they choose, and it's not Bernie.
Obama got a bit over 45% in the GE in 2008 and 2012 in GA. It is no stretch at all to see Hillary win the GE in 2016.
