Mitt Romney to Lay Out Case Against Donald Trump in Speech Thursday

Source: Bloomberg News March 2, 2016 — 4:18 PM CST

The rapidly intensifying effort by the Republican establishment to dislodge Donald Trump from the top of the party's presidential nominating race will star 2012 nominee Mitt Romney, who is preparing a speech for Thursday when he'll lay out his case against the front-runner.
With Trump's convincing victories on Tuesday, the single biggest day of voting in the Republican race, Romney was motivated to make a more formal case against him in hopes of keeping him from coalescing more support, according to a Republican source familiar with Romney's plans. Romney has voiced criticism for Trump in recent months, including his attack last week on the New York businessman's refusal to release his tax returns.
Romney doesn't believe Trump is the right person to lead the party, the Republican source said. A number of mainstream Republicans are falling in line with Trump, and Romney wants to speak up before more people go that route, the source said.
While making the case against Trump at the Hinckley Institute of Politics Student Forum at the University of Utah, Romney will not endorse one of his opponents, two people familiar with the former Massachusetts governor's plans said. Romney will, however, praise Florida Senator Marco Rubio, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, and Ohio Governor John Kasich. Romney’s comments will be focused on “the state of the race,” likely echoing past criticism of Trump for failing to release his tax returns.

All this talk about a brokered convention is useless. Trump is going to be their nominee. The RNC will find a way to get behind him.

if Drumpf goes to the Convention with a Delegate lead. They know this Guy will rip their Party to shreds. Great for we Dems, cause this could give us the House as well as the Senate. And it now appears there are Rethug Congresspersons who are getting a real Democratic challenge, thanks to Bernie Sanders.

Not crazy,Willard has his following and things can turn on a dime in Politics. And we know the Rethugs do follow their Seniority prevails thing. Watch the Western Newspapers, they have been running pro Willard stories and LTTE.

Seems to me Mitt had to have his own returns, such as they were, pried out of his hands long after he actually got the nomination.

We all should be hoping for a contested convention after which Romney gets the nomination. If that happens, Trump will run as an independent and Hillary will win.

The whole reason why the Republican base is supporting Trump is because he does not hide behind code words and dog whistles and "tells it like it is," regarding Republican appeals to racism. God, I am sure Rubio and Cruz would love to be associated with Mr. 47 percent.
