Christie defends Trump endorsement, says he's 'back to work' in N.J.

TRENTON — Amid a flurry of calls for his resignation, Gov. Chris Christie emphasized Thursday that he is not a "full-time surrogate" for Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump and is focused on his duties in New Jersey three weeks after ending his own bid for the White House.

In his second Statehouse news conference of the week, Christie defended his controversial endorsement of Trump but insisted that he isn't scheduled to live life on the road campaigning for the billionaire businessman and former Atlantic City casino mogul.

"I am here," Christie said. "I am back to work."
