Team Romney explores blocking Trump at RNC

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)Mitt Romney has instructed his closest advisers to explore the possibility of stopping Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention, a source close to Romney's inner circle says.

The 2012 GOP nominee's advisers are examining what a fight at the convention might look like and what rules might need revising.

"It sounds like the plan is to lock the convention," said the source.

Romney is focused on suppressing Trump's delegate count to prevent him from accumulating the 1,237 delegates he needs to secure the nomination.

The GOP elite doesn't like Trump, but a lot of people apparently do. I don't, but I'm appalled that all of these Republicans are running around trying to squash what (who) the people of their party apparently want. The GOP can't handle the fact that a lot of people don't want or like them anymore so they're going to force themselves on their voters. The GOP is going to date-rape its own supporters. Lovely. Typical.

Delegates didn't get what they wanted, either.

It's kind of like the process squeezes out the extremes in both parties

Of course 1968 the protesters were anti-war

Now the GOP could face an angry Tea Party 2nd Amendment crowd

The party elites will then be able to select who they want to run in the GE. I am guessing that candidate will be RMoney.

When they have their preferred functionary, then the goal will be to keep the Democratic candidate in the GE below 270 EV's. It will put it into the House of Reps and they have enough states gerrymandered to select their functionary.

If they are successful, it will tear this country apart.

prescient!

And Trump is popular enough to take a few states but they would likely
be Red States, Colorado or Michigan excepted

This must be in their planning.

Committee. Welcome to the real world baby, the GOP Rules Committee is not going to let Drumpf's Delegates to be seated. And you know darn well this Committee is probably the same persons who allowed the Romney Delegates to be recognized. This appears to be what is called the GOP stopping Drumpf.

Is that Mittens has alot less power than he thinks. In his mind he must believe he left some sort of powerful legacy on national repugs. Truth be told those rabid dogs will just chew him up and spit him out. Funny they get the candidate that conveys all their values and they cant run away fast enough.
