Trump rips Romney as ‘choke artist’ at Maine rally
Source: Bangor Daily News
PORTLAND, Maine Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump blasted Mitt Romney in Maine on Thursday after the partys 2012 nominee criticized him, saying Romney would have dropped to his knees for his endorsement four years ago.
The billionaire mogul rallied with Gov. Paul LePage, who became a top Trump surrogate after endorsing him last week, in the ballroom at The Westin Portland Harborview hotel two days before Maines Republican caucuses.
Trump came to Maine with political winds behind him, something that was unthinkable when he announced his campaign in June: He won seven of 11 states that voted on Tuesday.
The political outsider has done it by running on an often vague, us-against-them populist platform: He has called for a ban on Muslim travel to the U.S. and a wall on the U.S.-Mexican border that he has said Mexico will pay for and said many immigrants are rapists.

The word I think of when I think of Trump is uncouth.
And that is uncouth.
"Choke artist" someone posted is a 1970s term
Is that from the movie, you know ...

(628 posts)"Romney would have dropped to his knees." His audience went wild. WTF! Who are these neanderthals voting for this buffoon? I don't understand how anyone with half a brain cell working could think this this guy is presidential. It just boggles my mind and I find it a total embarrassment. The world is laughing at us.
Thanks Bill Clinton.

(33,244 posts)No President had ever done anything similar previously, and Trump would never have used language like that unless Bill debased the Presidency 20 years ago.

(10,775 posts)Calling Trump a "populist" really irritates me. A populist sees the political sphere as a contest between the elites and the populus -- the common people -- and takes the peoples' side. A right-wing pseudo-populist sees politics as a contest between "people like me" and everyone else, which includes not only the elites but the lower classes, people from different countries, cultures, and religions, etc. And Trump isn't even that kind of pseudo-populist; he's an elitist who exploits bigots with demagoguery.
