Former New York City Michael Bloomberg issued a directive that Bloomberg journalists not attack Republican frontrunner Donald Trump after he complained about coverage, according to a report from New York Magazine.

Gabriel Sherman reported after Trump had a "scathing letter" about negative coverage from Bloomberg's media arm hand-delivered to Bloomberg's Upper East Side home, stories about the real estate mogul were subject to "special scrutiny."

An unnamed high-level source told Sherman that Bloomberg handed down an "edict" to ensure reporters did not attack Trump in their stories. Even a reference to Trump as "P. T. Barnum" was cut from copy, Sherman reported.

“If you were putting Donald Trump in your piece, you would get special scrutiny,” the source told New York Magazine..................

Bloomberg wants to be President and he wants Trump to be the GOP nominee.
He wants an opening for a third party run. I wonder what he said about Bernie.

going to oppose him. Not that long ago Duers were saying they were sworn enemies (ftr something I never believed for a moment). This should concern everyone.

He wants Trump to be Republican nominee and Bernie to the Democratic nominee, because he thinks that will give him a shot at a 3rd party run with him running down the center as a fiscally conservative and socially liberal mainstream candidate. But if Hillary wins, or a more establishment Republican wins the nomination, I'm sure he doesn't think it will be possible for him to thread that needle. I think regardless, he couldn't win anyway, but he could have an affect on who does win one way or another if he ran as a 3rd party candidate with his preferred challengers.
