GOP primary debate on Fox News most watched debate of 2016
Source: Politico
Nearly 17 million people watched Fox News' Republican primary debate on Thursday.
According to the Nielsen ratings, 16.9 million people tuned into the debate moderated by Bret Baier, Megyn Kelly and Chris Wallace. The evening saw a highly anticipated rematch between front-runner Donald Trump and the debate moderators after Trump skipped the second Fox News debate in January over Kelly's participation, as well as a tongue-in-cheek statement from Fox News.
Of those 16.9 million, 5.5 million were in the important advertiser demo of 25 - 54 year olds. Fox News' livestream peaked at 1.5 million concurrent viewers.
Those numbers make Fox News' debate the fourth most watched primary debate in history (and this cycle). It also made the debate the second highest-rated telecast in the network's history; the highest-rated being the first Republican primary debate in August, which drew in 24 million viewers.

(8,964 posts)CNN is aping Fox, and MSNBC now mimics CNN. Wish it had been more in reverse. Having said that, when all is said and done I'm wondering if higher ratings for the GOP debates will result in a net negative for their ticket. They certainly were not helped much last time around, and this latest round of schoolyard temper tantrums may not bode well for them either.

(8,203 posts)What a hoot! They sure didn't disappoint...the repubklan party is in such chaos - not that we care...
If this wasn't so serious of course...now, can we as Democrats get our act together and get out the vote?? Or are we going to kiss our asses goodbye...
Be well all...

(8,964 posts)Because they were anticipating and hoping for a dysfunctional shouting match, and since that is precisely how the debate went, they were not disappointed.

(262 posts)This is just what Fix so-called news was wanting. The ratings will boost them into first place again.. Just like the CBS exec said the other day... Trump will be bad for America but he's great for CBS!!!

(21,115 posts)the scary party is people actually think they have the gravitas to be President. I was embarrassed and depressed by my fellow countrymen last night who think any of those cretins could be president.
