Ron Goldman's Dad Fascinated By Appearence Of Possible OJ Murder Weapon
Source: NY DAILY NEWS
The father of the young man murdered alongside Nicole Brown Simpson said it was insane but fascinating that a possible murder weapon had surfaced after 22 years.
Its unreal to hear that an officer may have had it and didn't turn it in, Fred Goldman told the Daily News Friday.
Obviously (the cop) wasn't doing his job. His responsibility was to turn it in and not try to use it as a piece of memorabilia, the grieving father said.
His son, Ronald Goldman, was friends with O.J. Simpsons ex-wife. He was with Nicole Brown Simpson at her Brentwood condo in 1994 the night they were both brutally stabbed to death.
Goldman's blood-covered body was found alongside Brown Simpson in the double murder that rocked the nation.

(5,902 posts)I always thought that little facet of the crime went suspiciously underexplored and overlooked.

(27,509 posts)Here's one article, there should be more, IIRC it became part of the live televised trial.

In a chaotic court session, it was just one furious exchange among many.
But when attorney Johnnie L. Cochran Jr. demanded Friday that Judge Lance A. Ito order prosecutors to disclose any additional information they have on former LAPD Detective Mark Fuhrman's racial bias or alleged misconduct, he also produced a startling new witness for the defense.
Attached to Cochran's motion was a supporting declaration by a deputy district attorney. And the labyrinthine tale of how it came to be there opens a door on one of the behind-the-scenes struggles that have helped turn O.J. Simpson's double murder trial from courtroom drama to social epic.
The deputy district attorney, Lucienne Coleman, a 17-year veteran of the office and former head of its sex crimes division, has told fellow prosecutors, Internal Affairs investigators and now members of O.J. Simpson's legal defense team that police officers had told her and several other deputy district attorneys about allegations that Fuhrman had committed an act of anti-Semitic vandalism and had boasted of an intimate relationship with Nicole Brown Simpson.

(30,793 posts)It would be nice if it would clarify OJ's role - or lack thereof - in the murders.

(953 posts)It was missed on the initial investigation?
Someone FOUND it?
It wasn't reported even then?
There are some unanswered questions there.

(36,437 posts)I definitely believe the version that OJ dumped the duffel bag with bloody clothes and weapon in the garbage at LAX. This was the theory explored at trial, and supported by the testimony of the limo driver. There was a bag that vanished while OJ was between limo and terminal on his departure to Chicago. The idea that the bag would have all the other evidence but not the knife is silly.
Time will tell, I guess.

(23,664 posts)How can he search for the "real killers" if they won't let him out of prison.
I think this knife bullshit is some sort of cheesy promotional ploy for an OJ movie.
I also firmly belive OJ did it but he got away with it due to the arrogance and incompetence of the prosecution.
If Fred Goldman wants to blame somebody for OJ going free, he should look in the direction of the LA County DA's office.

(3,967 posts)at the trial, the argument was that all the DNA evidence - and perhaps the objects on which it was found - may have been planted. How would you prove that a knife with the victims' blood buried on OJs estate was put there by OJ. It is a moot point anyway, he was found not guilty.

(6,241 posts)And have "MURDERER!" screamed at him on the street, if he ever gets out of prison from the kidnapping conviction. He'll never be able to own anything after the judgement against him from the Goldman family.
He may not be in jail for the murders, but he's going to be in a type of prison for the rest of his life.

(21,046 posts)I thought that he hasn't been a free man in quite some time.
His NFL pension is exempt from civil forfeiture. It's something like $25,000 a month. I don't know if the Goldman and Brown families will ever get anything from the civil judgment.

(872 posts)Actually, I think he has some assets a lawsuit can't touch, like a pension or something.
Personally, I think he's innocent and the stuff he's in jail for now was entrapment.

(6,241 posts)releasing the video saying "I didn't do it, but if I *had*, here's how it would have gone down" was very suspicious. Innocent people don't do that.
I still believe he killed them. We'll never know for sure, but that doubt will always be there.
