N. Korea threatens pre-emptive nuclear strike on South, US

Source: AFP

Seoul (AFP) - North Korea threatened "indiscriminate" nuclear strikes against South Korea and the US mainland, as the two allies prepared to kick off large-scale joint military drills on Monday.

The threat to carry out what it described as a "pre-emptive nuclear strike of justice" was made in a statement by the North's powerful National Defence Commission, citing the Supreme Command of the Korean People's Army (KPA).

It came just days after leader Kim Jong-Un ordered the country's nuclear arsenal to be placed on standby for use "at any moment," in response to tough new UN sanctions imposed over the North's fourth nuclear test in January and last month's long-range rocket launch.

Pyongyang has issued dire warnings of nuclear attack in the past, usually during periods of elevated military tensions on the divided Korean peninsula.

To being able to carry out a limited strike on South Korea or Alaska. Their assured destruction does not seem to influence them.

A collapse of the financial system, food distribution, medical care, refugees, either no government or marital law, just the obvious results. Now if NK gets even one nuke on US soil, you don't think we won't return the favor and how long do you think before that gets completely out of control. Like the lady said, controlling a war is like controlling a hurricane.

No emergency, a horror show which will probably go down hill from there. No one is prepared for this.

use unfounded fear of foreign and domestic enemies to control their people and cement their rule, not to destroy both of them. The danger will come if and when the North Korean leadership starts believing its own bullshit.

...country?

Will he detonate one of his own nukes in one of his own cities to falsely claim we have attacked North Korea, to justify an all out excursion across the DMZ?

Glad I'm not a military planner having to contend with all the possibilities, in this day and age.

The Chinese have to be getting quite perturbed by now. One of the their officials was quoted the other day saying the DPRK has signed it's own "death warrant".
