(2,931 posts)And didn't challenge the fact that super delegates are an undemocratic process that have the ability to put the will of the people aside, and replace it with the will of Washington insiders, powers that be, etc. Some people try to challenge that truth

(1,968 posts)Senator Obama was able to secure super delegates and the nomination after Senator Clinton was crowned the heir apparent back in 2007-08.
If Obama could pull it off perhaps Senator Sanders can do so too... And then again, maybe not.
We'll just have to wait and see.

(5,082 posts)So can the voters. Average citizens feeling a need to correct the system just might with 3rd party candidacies or protests and occupations in the streets or party headquarters. It's happened before. If Hillary wins fair and square it won't be an issue. If the defense industry and banks try to ram her through then there will be a problem as far as I can see. People always put their blinders on studying a static situation that will eventually become dynamic. They use no forethought. Big mistake.

(348 posts)are talking about. And, I suspect the answer is yes, they went to the candidate bought and paid for by corporate interest - Hillary Clinton. I suspect many of those lobbyist are in her superpacs - if not all. Some are congress critters but I'd like to know exactly how many are lobbyists given delegate status Democrat Elections. The DNC's personal 15% of delegates over all is equal to the 15% of the black vote. So that shows how much power they have - a lot to decide an election. Which should say something. Of course this year as we know 85% of the black voters are voting pro lobbiests and plutocracy so they must be thrilled. Hillary has done so much for them. Now about those for profit prisons... I bet it gets WAAAAAY worse. Just saying since they were in her super pac and I suspect they are still in her and Bill's foundation. Bet Hillary is laughing all the way back from Flint.
Here is the list of Lobbyists:

(21,126 posts)All they represent at this time is endorsement. If they were ever used to secure a nomination, the party would self-destruct on national television.

(21,126 posts)That can't happen until the convention. At this point, super-delegate commitments equal nothing more than endorsements.

(332 posts)Correct me if i'm wrong but I don't think this was happening in 2008. I recall the superdelegates laying pretty low until it came time to face the music. This time some of them are saying it's Hillary all the way. New game, different outcome.
That is what is destroying the Democratic Party right now. I'm 63 and a lifelong Democrat and they have pretty much lost me at this point. The shenanigans I'm seeing won't get my vote or my loyalty.

(4,211 posts)I don't remember super delegates being used as a bludgeon last presidential election.
It is worse than that. Yes they can change sides and don't vote until the convention, but the super delegates gives the press carte blanche to propel a false narrative. And that is Hillary Clinton is way ahead and the math says Sanders can't win.
So the whole super delegate issue is being used as a propaganda tool by the MSM and dem establishment. It being used this way is unfair and giving the public an unfair, faulty representation of the race.

(413 posts)Maine Democratic Party chair Phil Bartlett tweeted late Sunday that more than 47,000 attended caucuses, an "unprecedented" number.
Although many news sources said the number was high, it took a bit to find this info
(here- with the premade link that was way off)
I suspect the 3463 is precincts
