GOP group: Tweet about Duckworth and veterans was a mistake
Mar 8, 4:56 PM EST

CHICAGO (AP) -- The National Republican Senatorial Committee briefly posted a tweet saying a Democratic candidate from Illinois who lost both legs as an Army helicopter pilot "has a sad record of not standing up" for veterans.

NRSC spokeswoman Andrea Bozek said the tweet Tuesday about U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth was a mistake that was deleted "within minutes." She then criticized reporters for paying more attention "to a deleted tweet" than other issues.

Duckworth campaign spokesman Matt McGrath says the tweet was "tasteless" and that veterans' issues are the congresswoman's lifelong work.

Duckworth is seeking the Democratic nomination for a chance to challenge Republican U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk.

In this photograph, the expression on George W Bush's face conveys some kind of guilt.

you created that look and we the taxpayers paid and are still paying for that look in more ways than one, and then to top it all off we get to see Legionnaires and Veterans with there hats on, standing in front and in back of republicans and those that voted for that look, that you created, yep------------ by you and your team of criminals---------------that look, and now the republicans are trying to back track on there remarks----------------how many of them served in combat----------------the list is really really short, just like that look

Republicans Attack Amputee Lawmaker For ‘Not Standing Up’ For Veterans

The Army veteran lost both of her legs in Iraq

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) on Tuesday accused an Illinois lawmaker and Army veteran who lost both her legs in Iraq of “not standing up for our veterans.”

The group blasted Rep. Tammy Duckworth, who is running to represent Illinois in the U.S. Senate, in a tweet that it promptly deleted. “Tammy Duckworth has a sad record of not standing up for our veterans,” the NRSC wrote on Twitter.

It later issued a statement on the tweet that slammed Duckworth again. “It would be great if reporters would pay as much attention to a deleted tweet as they should to Tammy Duckworth being sued by VA whistleblowers for ignoring claims of mistreatment and corruption,” NRSC spokesman Greg Blair said.

Repubes love to prance around waving the flag and mouthing patriotic slogans, but when it comes to voting and actually standing behind our veterans with respect, they go AWOL every time.

I say NOTHING the GOP does is accidental. The GOP may be trying to prevent Trump from being their candidate but he is bringing out the absolutely worst from the GOP party.

Should be big enough of a mistake to send that fucking Kirk packing in November.

Throw out a bunch of crap. If it becomes a popular meme you push it harder
If you get blowback, apologize and move on
They rely on the public's short term memory and that many people missed it and an equal number don't know who she is
If the twit (tweet) is mentioned again they'll repeat Ms Bozek's complaint that they're paying more attention to the twits (tweets) than 'real' issues

I remember how Rove's goons tried to call her heroism into question when she first ran for Congress in 2006.

It worked that time; but she returned six years later, and they still can't get over that. Gentlemen, you can't keep a good woman down.

I absolutely adore Tammy Duckworth. She has done more for veterans than just about anybody in history.

Here is a reminder:

Joe Biden's reactions are telling in this clip. He feels it, too.

Care about vets until they come home.

Care about vets unless their democrats then it's okay to swift boat them.

Care about the fetus but not the wellbeing of the child.

It's their MO.

They're Hypocritical. Always.
