Donald Trump on Mitt Romney in Utah: "Are you sure he's a Mormon?"

Source: CBS News

SALT LAKE CITY -- Donald Trump brought his brash brand of politics to the most Republican state in the country on Friday. But Utah, which voted against President Obama by a bigger margin than any other state in the country in 2012, has a reputation for polite and orderly when it comes to elections.

None of that seemed to matter for the Republican front-runner, who stuck to his playbook of bombastic language and blunt-force attacks against his rivals in the 2016 race, courtesy be damned. His primary target: former GOP nominee Mitt Romney, who has deep roots in Utah thanks to his Mormon faith.

"Are you sure he's a Mormon?" Trump asked the anti-establishment crowd that jeered at every mention of Romney. "Are we sure? He choked, he choked. It was so sad."

"He should have beaten Obama," the GOP front-runner continued. "We wouldn't be working. I could be back right now. I could be back working in New York and doing my deals and having fun and being with my family."

approx. 17,000 people attended. Trump's rally had to be moved to a smaller venue than originally planned due to alleged security concerns. I wonder if CBS mentioned Bernie's rally. Never mind, that was a rhetorical question.

this a.m. as I turned on the TV and was flipping through the channels I happened upon CNN and what caught my ear was that they were showing a crowd lining up for a campaign event. I immediately thought it was a crowd for Bernie - because I heard about his crowd last night and that Trump had to scale down his venue.

But then the CNN talking head said that this crowd lining up was for Trump. They mentioned the sizes of the crowds that Trump was getting - and failed to mention anything about Bernie's crowd last night.

They are continuing to ignore Bernie and Bernie since he got into this contest - has been drawing big crowds all over the country.

How is a Mormon different than a mainstream Evangelical Christian? That would be an interesting conversation.

He isn't a Mormon and probably couldn't be bothered to learn anything about them. He only knows as much about evangelical Christianity as a needs to know to pretend to be an evangelical Christian. The only thing he worships is himself.

16. "Are you sure he's a Mormon?"--Trump

“And by the way, and again, I do like Ted Cruz, but not a lot of evangelicals come out of Cuba, in all fairness. It’s true. Not a lot come out. But I like him nevertheless,”--Trump

Nothing divides us more then religion... Arm in arm with cognitive dissonance, it foments distrust, dislike and disdain, and has continually done so since the dawn of time. The humans whom embrace such ideas do so simply for personal comfort and many hold dearly to their ideas, until the time they decide to change them, for one reason or another.

President Barack Obama, whom I voted for in 2008, had a Mom & Dad(s) whom at minimum were agnostic. Though you may recall his remarks at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, following the tragic murder of 9 African Americans. "It's in our DNA"--B.O.

I'll end it with a scattered rambling observation... The U.S.A. has undeniably, a predominately christian population, with as we know, predominately two major political parties, (D) & (R) for which to project their ideologies. Though aside from apathy in 2008, some more principled Christians chose the constitution party guy, pastor Chuck Baldwin over Mormon Romney. In the early days the Mormons were kicked around the Midwest by the Christians, and then on 9/11... yes, oddly enough 9/11 in 1857 at what is called Mountain Meadows, the Mormons sought retribution, and slaughtered a bunch of Christians... Men, Women and Children, they kept some of the younger ones, because we all know how easy they are to reprogram, some refer to it as the age of reason.

The blacks whom not until just a few decades or so back in time were frowned upon by the Mormons for certain leadership and attendance issues, back in the day created their own sanctuaries aka churches to escape the prying eyes of the crackers and former slave holders. Ah, I could go on, but it's not worth my time because only evolution will cure the problem, as it has done for centuries. Give it another couple hundred years, and if this little blue marble is still habitable, things will only get better as they have since day one... though at a great cost to humanity.

Blatantly questioning the religion of another politician, even in jest? Forget about it. Just another example of what strange, unhealthy waters we're in, these days.....
