In Mississippi, retiring officials can pocket campaign cash

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — When former Mississippi Lt. Gov. Amy Tuck shut down her campaign committee in the closing days of 2013, she took a parting gift — the $158,342 remaining in the account.

Tuck had already withdrawn more than $103,000 from the account in late 2007 and early 2008, as she was going to work at Mississippi State University as special assistant to the president, initially making $160,000 a year.

She's hardly the only Mississippi official to cash out at the end of her career. An Associated Press review shows that of 99 elected officials who have left office in recent years, as many as 25 may have pocketed more than $1,000 when they closed their campaign accounts.

At least four others besides Tuck — who is now vice president of campus services at Mississippi State and didn't respond to the AP's requests for comment — took more than $50,000.

she just gets to gallivant on over to the Publicly Run University, which gets money from all of us in some shape or form, so that she give her wisdom and insight on right wingerisum, and then pocket said funds from the same cronies that supported her from the "Dark Money" she got from the lackey's, which makes the state dead last in everything, and first in right to work for less, and the citizens bank rolling a University.

Sounds, just like George Mason University, and Florida State where the Mercatus Foundation under the guidance of Larry Fink, and yep -----------you got Charles Koch are going to spread there wisdom of Libertarianism of Ayn Rand to the younger neophytes of Conservatism and expand the downward spiral of attacking everyone as being burdern to society and that government is bad, when in essence they are causing this "stuff" .

You just got to love how a state that closes down places to register to vote, and can sit back and get campaign bribes and pocket the money into a personnel account and not be held liable for some form of bribery

Thank the U.S. Supreme Court and this outlier of the haves getting more and the have not's getting screwed

This is the state that is dead last in economic equality, and the rest of us are supporting this "stuff" through our collective taxes

Honk------------------for a political revolution Bernie 2016
