Cuba visit: Obama and Castro spar over human rights

Source: BBC

At a historic news conference, Mr Castro said if he was given a list of political prisoners, he would "release them tonight".

The White House has said it has given Cuba lists of dissidents in the past.

Mr Castro does not view the prisoners as dissidents, US officials said.

That disagreement is central to the conflict between US and Cuban officials....

Hopefully good things will come from the new relationship between America and Cuba.

to some extent overshadowed it. The US audience had a tough time getting the full flavor, what with the split screen of the carnage in Brussels being shown in close rotation (what was the point of that, I wonder?).

That said, he did what he needed to do within Cuba--it was not a didactic speech at all, more of a call for unity and cooperation between the two nations. The audience seemed to enjoy the hell out of it.

Many American prisons are among the worst in the world; outright inhumane. And then there Gitmo, and Sandra Bland.. should I go on.

4. US media refuses to name their crime: acting as unregistered foreign agents.

All of the people in prison that US media calls "dissidents" are or were unregistered agents in the employ of a foreign government - the USA, via Miami based, taxpayer funded, Cubanet.
Cubanet is funded by various US agencies to the tune of $185,000 per month. Their agents in Cuba, like (leader of the "ladies in white&quot Berta Solar's husband are paid $2000 a month to produce anti Cuba propaganda stories disguised as "reports" that the lazy US media uses as a go-to source of their Cuba "news".

The US and most countries require agents of foreign agencies to register as such, of face arrest or deportation.

5. Anyone who disagrees with the Cuban government is a US agent and should be arrested?

Using your own logic, how do we know you're not a Cuban agent because you're criticizing the US government? Should you be arrested as well?

People should be allowed to criticize their government without being thrown in jail.

Stop blaming America for every bad thing in the world.

Cuba has a wide range of DOMESTIC voices, political movements - including anti Casro parties. US media never covers these domestic movements - instead, insisting that the only "dissidents" in Cuba are the ones on the US payroll.
Foreign funding of political parties is illegal in Cuba - as it is in most of the world.

Not sure why you accuse me for blaming every bad thing on the US. I am only commenting on a subject I am well versed in.
