Ted Cruz Blames Donald Trump for ‘Garbage’ National Enquirer Story
Source: Time
Capping an already remarkable week that left presidential candidates feuding over spouses, Republican Sen. Ted Cruz on Friday blamed rival Donald Trump for planting a story in the National Enquirer that asserted Cruz had carried on several extramarital affairs.
Cruz strongly denied the report, which quoted Trump adviser Roger Stone. I want to be crystal clear: these attacks are garbage, the Texas Senator wrote in a Facebook posting. For Donald J. Trump to enlist his friends at the National Enquirer and his political henchmen to do his bidding shows you that there is no low Donald wont go.
Trump said in his own Facebook post that he did not plant the story and has not yet read it. Ted Cruzs problem with the National Enquirer is his and his alone, and while they were right about O.J. Simpson, John Edwards, and many others, I certainly hope they are not right about Lyin Ted Cruz, Trump wrote. A Trump ally, columnist Adriana Cohen, was ready to repeat the accusations. Cohen confronted one of Cruzs alleged mistresseslive on CNN, where the woman is an analyst. The woman denied that sort of relationship.
In a campaign that already has seen candidates sparring over the size of their genitals, it really should not have come as a shock that the candidates are now debating the merits of an Enquirer story, let alone pushing it as though it were as valid as any reason to vote for or against a candidate. And with 227 days until Election Day, theres no telling just how much more afield this campaign will go. Theres little reason to expect serious policy discussions to play a major role, at least at the moment.

(53,235 posts)WHAT they report is reprehensible and useless but true. Or, at least, legally true as stated.
Looks like this is a lame attempt to make Cruz look "sexy."

(10,650 posts)First the rumors first were put out by the rubio campaign after cruz pulled dirty tricks on rubio. cruz's latest was no doubt the attack on trump's wife, but this time he covered his tracks better.
What would the National Enquired do when it gets rumors of infidelity about a candidate for president? Well everyone got the rumors from rubio. And the Enquired did what it always does in such cases.
To blame trump for that is simply stupid and cruz is stupid.
The other problem with cruz's claim is that one of the women is now with trump's campaign. So, if trump were behind it, then the charge is definitely true or at least claimed to be by his staffer.

Ted Cruz today denied cheating on his wife with five women - and claimed it was Donald Trump and his 'henchmen' who were spreading a smear, prompting a scathing response from the Republican frontrunner.
Cruz publicly denied cheating on his wife Heid with five woman - described in the National Enquirer as including a 'hot babe' and a '$1,000 a night call girl'.
And he accused Donald Trump and his henchmen of being behind it saying his rival had acted to 'enlist' the Enquirer to spread a smear.
That prompted Trump to issue a lengthy statement denying being involved, but which said of the National Enquirer 'they were right about O.J. Simpson, John Edwards and many others.'
'I certainly hope they are not right about Lyin' Ted Cruz,' he said.
The extraordinary spectacle of the Christian conservative candidate defending the integrity of his marriage unfolded in the space of hours.

Seriously all women and minorities plus me means that unless they figure out a way to steal it from all of us, or we all let someone else do the heavy lifting of voting, this election is in the bag. It's time to move on to flipping the House and Senate, then never letting the conservatives pack the courts ever again.
Thank goodness for the dung beetles, collecting their turds.
