(1,054 posts)but there were so few and they left quickly. I'm so proud of my state. We are informed.
Got a nice Bernie Pin to wear!
strategery blunder
(4,225 posts)Bernie had not a single one in my precinct. We actually came out of the woodwork.
(Sadly the deluge of surrogates did put Hillary over the top, 4-3 in my precinct, but my precinct looked like the most pro-Hillary of the six or so precincts at our caucus location; the others were more in line with the state results as a whole.)

(1,054 posts)My Caucus was in Everett - 1/2 hour north of Seattle.

(4,225 posts)I'm stuck in the section thereof represented by Steve O'Ban.
I figured that was probably a rational explanation for what I saw today.

(5,719 posts)Perhaps, given the massive support for Bernie, they should reconsider.

(3,666 posts)In 2012, 3 million people from Washington State voted in the presidential election. Roughly 1.7M for Obama and 1.3M for Mittens. Supposedly about 200,000 participated in the caucuses today. I wouldn't call winning a caucus in which about 1/10 of the potential democratic voters participated a "massive" show of support. And I were a super delegate I sure wouldn't let that alone decide who I thought deserved the nomination and my support.

(14 posts)If you were a superdelegate, would it, at least, influence your decision?
kennetha
(3,666 posts)and not the most weighty factor. If I were a super delegate that would mean that I was an office holder, a party official, etc. It would mean that I had been working in the trenches, possibly along side of these candidates, possibly for many years. I wouldn't regard myself as a mere weather vane, but as an interested and well-placed stakeholder in the party, given the authority and responsibility to exercise independent judgment. And I would do just that -- exercise independent judgment.

(346 posts)"Drawing throngs of voters with his calls to reclaim political power from the billionaire class, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders won a landslide victory over Hillary Clinton Saturday in Washingtons Democratic caucuses.
With heavy turnout overwhelming some caucus locations, sending participants into parking lots and parks to complete voting on the sunny spring day, state Democratic Party officials said the caucuses may reach 2008s record turnout of 250,000." (See link in post # 24.) How do you think people would view your judgement if you ignored 73% of the caucus votes?
kennetha
(3,666 posts)If i ignored 10% of the voting population.
Let them "threaten" all they want.

(1,968 posts)Didn't the Clinton campaign say they expected Bernie to win these particular states?
So really, no surprise.
strategery blunder
(4,225 posts)And after Hillary mailed surrogate ballots to her mailing lists, but Bernie did not, quite honestly I was a bit nervous. I was afraid that Bernie might only win by 10 or 15 after that, when I knew he needed a margin more of the magnitude he received today.
About 40% of Hillary support in my precinct came from those surrogate ballots, while every Bernie supporter in my caucus showed up in person. And yes the deluge of Hillary surrogates did flip my precinct. :/
(Then again, I'm in one of the more conservative precincts in my legislative district, I think.)
The results from the other precincts caucusing at my location were more in line with state results.

(142 posts)Such a satisfying win! Like Obama's in '08.
Now let's all contact the "Super"delegates and convince them to actually REPRESENT their constituents. A radical idea, I know...
