Islamist protesters call for Sharia in Pakistan after Salman Taseer blasphemy row

Source: The Independent

Thousands have clashed with police in Islamabad in the second day of protests over blasphemy laws in Pakistan.

Demonstrators gathered outside Parliament and other key buildings demanding authorities implement Sharia, or Islamic law.

As many as 25,000 protesters occupied the high-security zone in Islamabad to press their demands, with some setting fire to cars. The army was deployed on Sunday to contain the rioters.

Protesters marched from the garrison town of Rawalpindi to Islamabad against the execution of Mumtaz Qadri, who some hard-line Muslims consider a hero for murdering Punjab province governor Salman Taseer.

All of whom want to deny basic rights to women, kill LGBTs, stone adulterers, execute women who are victims of rape, and murder anyone who decides to leave their religion.

If I had the power, Pakistan would have 25,000 more people in its jails by tomorrow

Silencing an idea only causes others to wonder if it might be right.

What Pakistan needs is jobs, a better quality of living, and the Internet. I wonder how many of these people are unemployed? The government there is terrible.

The man attacked and killed a governor who spoke out against hanging Asia Bibi:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asia_Bibi_blasphemy_case

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salmaan_Taseer

The governor dared to say that people should not be killed under the blasphemy law. So he had to die. These people regard him as a hero, and want to kill blasphemers.

They may not actively be killing other people for terroristic reasons, but they want the law to do it, meaning that they want a terroristic government.

This is not a "fringe" group. That's the problem. Those who support crimes against human rights in some Muslim countries are at least 30-40%.

These people want a GOVERNMENT that lynches people.

The problem with jailing these protesters would be that it adds ammunition to the protesters' side. These are protesters who are already sensitive to perceived offenses against their religion.

This is especially true in a place like Pakistan, where these ideas have a decent level of support. If the Pakistani government threw people in jail for supporting Shariah law, it would be instant suicide.

Every single person who comes into our country with a belief system like this is innately at war with our government.

Hell, we didn't import Nazis, why should we be allowing these people in?

There are plenty of Muslims who DON'T want to murder people for no reason, but these people do.

It is true that a terrorist would lie, but the problem in Europe is not so much a few terrorists, but the much larger number of sympathizers who will cloak them and facilitate them.

Give them a vetting that would make a colonoscopy look tame.
If they can't answer certain questions, or answer them wrongly, they don't get to the west.

"You find out your neighbor, Mike, is gay. Do you:
A) Leave him alone. He's doing his thing, I'm doing mine.
B) Blindfold him, take him to the top of a building and drop him to his death. Homosexuality is against Allah."

Anything other than A, and they stay in Pakistan.

A backwards society will usually have backwards thinking. I think this is because the population is poorly educated. This makes them less prone to thinking for themselves. Fundies also thrive on chaos and insecurity.

An educated society is usually more Liberal.

People who protest for Sharia law are just one step down from terrorists who set off bombs.

After all, they want to terrorize gays, apostates, women who don't obey, non-Muslims, and on and on.

Fuck that shit.
