A second federal judge in Washington ruled Tuesday that a conservative legal watchdog group may question the State Department and potentially several top aides to Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton about her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state.
In a three-page order, U.S. District Senior Judge Royce C. Lamberth of the District granted a request from Judicial Watch, which has sought public records of talking points used by Obama national security adviser Susan E. Rice, then-U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, in television appearances after the deadly Sept. 11, 2012, attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya.
Appearing five days later on Sunday morning talk shows, Rice said the assaults appeared to have stemmed from a spontaneous protest of an anti-Islam video. U.S. investigators subsequently concluded that the attacks were brought by terrorist groups.
Where there is evidence of government wrong-doing and bad faith, as here, limited discovery is appropriate, even though it is exceedingly rare in Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) cases, Lamberth wrote.

(5,400 posts)My keeping cookies as "session only" might be getting me access. That's a setting in my Firefox browser. For my favorite websites, ones with logins especially, I set the browser to keep their cookies.
I only hit a limit when I open five articles in one browsing session. That's on the PC. On my Amazon tablet, and android phone, I don't get around the limit.
On the PC I just start a new browsing session and I can get dive more articles. I'd buy a subscription but I mainly use the WaPo to keep tabs on their political reporting, rather than to get news.

(5,400 posts)as State department people keep filing back and forth to testify. Republicans can use it to deflect and obfuscate from their myriad liabilities. If Secretary Clinton becomes POTUS then I'll hope she gets a new team of advisers. This development was foreseeable, imo.
