Texas Republicans will allow people to openly carry guns at its state convention

Source: Raw Story

The Republican Party of Texas will allow people to carry guns at their state convention, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Both open and concealed carry of firearms will be permitted at Texas State Convention in May, officials confirmed.

On Monday, the U.S. Secret Service announced it would not allow people to carry guns at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. More than 45,000 people had signed a petition calling on the RNC to allow the open carry of firearms at the event.

Both Texas and Ohio allow guns to be carried openly in public.

Maybe you could ask for additional pay for being in a dangerous area?

But, it won't do you much good to have extra $$ if you get caught in the crossfire.

I sure hope so.

Last year? Two years ago?... the open carry folks were trying to make a point, so they allowed them on the property during a scheduled time period....

BUT... whenever any of the big wigs (Cruz, Paul, etc) were going to be in the conventions center, they were having none of the gun nutz.

There are no actual candidates present at this convention, correct?

On edit: The reason I ask is this shit is fine in schools and other places, but when they are present, nah. We can't have that!

Nothing is going to happen.

There won't be any murders. No rapes. No robberies. No terrorist acts. Obama isn't going to come in and police up all their guns. No crime of any sort. And the conventioneers aren't going to do the OK Corral thing.

The reason why will be different, depending on who you ask.

A Republican will tell you in no uncertain terms that nothing happened at their convention because everyone - and I mean EVERYONE - was armed. There's probably a rule down there that you can't be a registered Republican if you don't own at least five guns.

A Democrat will reply that nothing happened because it wouldn't have anyway.
