War on women? GOP silent as Trump sounds off on abortion

Source: AP

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Frustrated Republicans grappled with new fears about Donald Trump's impact on their party Wednesday, as the billionaire businessman's campaign rivals targeted his punitive plan for fighting abortion and extraordinary defense of his campaign manager who police say assaulted a female reporter.

Concern rippled through Republican circles nationwide, yet few dared criticize the GOP front-runner directly when pressed, leery of confronting the man who may well lead their election ticket in November.

Their silence underscored the deep worries plaguing the party's leaders — particularly its most prominent women — who are growing increasingly concerned that a Trump presidential nomination could not only cost the 2016 election but also tarnish the party brand for a generation of women and young people.

"A nominee who cannot speak to women cannot win," said New Hampshire party chairwoman Jennifer Horn, though declining to rebuke Trump by name.

The irony is that Ted Cruz, who is the most obvious Trump alternative, has attacked Trump from the right as being secretly pro-choice:

http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/25/politics/cruz-trump-abortion-new-york-values/

Ted Cruz and two allied super PACs launched a television broadside against Donald Trump on Monday, dedicating big money behind ads attacking the billionaire for "New York values," particularly past support for partial-birth abortion.

The ads use identical quotes from Trump's 1999 interview on "Meet the Press" in which he declares "I am pro-choice in every respect."
Campaigns and super PACs are not allowed to coordinate on advertising, but the unified front against Trump comes just one week before the Iowa caucuses and continue Cruz's theme of painting the New York billionaire as out-of-touch with Iowa values.

Trump doesn't really want to be President.
He would like to be called Mr. President. He would like the glory and the attention and the power.
He would like it very much if everyone were to stand and remove their hats and bands would play each time he enters a room.
He would like very much to be able to break into Prime Time with a special announcement from the Office of President Trump.
However, there's no way Donald J. Trump wants to be led around by the nose by his security detail. No way he wants a security man in the room at all times. No way he wants the personal scrutiny of his every move. No way he wants to be at the beckon call of the American people at all times. No way he really wants to serve anyone but himself.
So, from here on in, the statements are going to become more outlandish, more contradictory, and more insane. He's going to push it as far as he can to insure the only way he can possibly be elected is if the whole country is certified insane.
It will make for great TV, but taking this guy seriously will make you a laughing stock.

Absolutely true statement. Anyone who is a narcissistic person would want the job simply because they want to be know as the top tier person in the world. trump (I don't capitalize trumps name out of disrespect) would never sit still with all the command rules that go with the president. After 3 days trump would be pushing the job off on managers and underlings.

And he was not even aware of what these people were doing , they were involved in so many scenes that some 240 were eventually charged with crimes. At least Donald would be cognizant of what his goons were doing . He may not care , he would probly be involved and they would be a comedy of errors. Actually a Trump president would be comedy gold. Hopefully the Congress would block everything he tried to do keeping the damage to a minimum . And I am sure the damage that Hillary would do would probably be worse. So as far as the lesser of two evils ........
And Besides, Trump is a liberal. He's just catfishing the GOP.

Shrub was also a narcissist, also totally incompetent, also prone to crashes of self-esteem such as Trump had in December. One-quarter of GWB's time as president was spent on vacation. He was bitterly resentful of the blame he received for failing to perform duties he didn't know or care that he had. His underlings manipulated him by giving him a bullet list of "choices" that all ran on rails to the decisions they wanted, and he was too stupid to notice as long as they were deferential to him in person.

World leaders led him about by the nose, he "protected" us from the terrorists by giving in to Osama bin Laden's demands and letting him go free, and he destroyed America's security position by ruining our good name, lying to start wars, destroying the minds, bodies and spirits of our people in uniform, pushing fuel prices high enough that it was profitable to drill again in Texas, stealing the property of the middle class.

And it all came back to the fact that he was stupid and full of shit. Just like Trump.

That's exactly what a Trump Presidency would be, too, only worse because unlike GWB's vapid hands-off approach, Trump likes to put his reverse-Midas touch on everything.

What concerns me the most is that our entire election mechanism is compromised and vulnerable to theft. President Obama won only by forming an overwhelming majority of support, one which could not be statistically stolen from him. He still under-performed by 8-10% in the final results of a dozen states, and nobody said a word....

So it could happen. It could really happen, and if it does, America will be well and truly destroyed.

The GOP wants to criminalize abortion. Pretty much across the board.

From the BBC.

US presidential hopeful Donald Trump has withdrawn a call for women who have abortions to be punished, only hours after suggesting it.

He had proposed "some form of punishment" for women who have abortions if they were made illegal.

But after strong criticism, Mr Trump repeated the Republican party line that only the person performing the abortion should be punished, not the women.
