Donald J. Trump Statement on Debating Bernie Sanders
Based on the fact that the Democratic nominating process is totally rigged and Crooked Hillary Clinton and Deborah Wasserman Schultz will not allow Bernie Sanders to win, and now that I am the presumptive Republican nominee, it seems inappropriate that I would debate the second place finisher. Likewise, the networks want to make a killing on these events and are not proving to be too generous to charitable causes, in this case, womens health issues. Therefore, as much as I want to debate Bernie Sanders - and it would be an easy payday - I will wait to debate the first place finisher in the Democratic Party, probably Crooked Hillary Clinton, or whoever it may be.

(40,656 posts)step forward. HRC at the same time was home hiding because the Inspector General's report showed she was lying for over a year on her server fiasco. The only grown up in this mess challenged Trump and showed him to be a coward, a blowhard and a sissy. Bernie did that, not HRC who is still trying to absorb her 9% trustworthy rating v NINETY ONE PERCENT untrustworthy rating in the last poll.
Consider in that total that EVEN HER SUPPORTERS DON'T TRUST HER! Among the 91% who said she's untrustworthy were her 'supporters'.
Bernie showed what a DEMOCRAT looks like. HRC is still counting her fingers.

(51,378 posts)Sanders got 9 debates, he managed to mooch 3 more than the 6 that were originally planned and agreed to by the campaigns.
Hillary is not "hiding." She is traveling all over California holding rallies and talking with Californians about what they want done in Washington. Unlike Sanders, she is not trying to pull grandstanding stunts.
And I already voted for her here in California (mail ballot). Can't wait to vote for her again in November!

(15,805 posts)URGENT - Trump says he will not debate Sanders
Published 4:21 PM EDT May 27, 2016
(CNN) -- Donald Trump on Friday said he would not debate Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders because it would be "inappropriate" to square off against the candidate who currently trails Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary fight. "Based on the fact that the Democratic nominating process is totally rigged and Crooked Hillary Clinton and (Debbie) Wasserman-Schultz will not allow Bernie Sanders to win, and now that I am the presumptive Republican nominee, it seems inappropriate that I would debate the second-place finisher," Trump said in a statement. Trump also said news networks "are not proving to be too generous to charitable causes," which he previously had said would be a goal of debating Sanders. The two populist candidates had floated the idea of debating each other throughout the week. Sanders has been trying to debate Clinton ahead of the California primary on June 7, but she, too, declined.

into this thing on a lark and to feed his ego. He never expected to be the nominee and he certainly didn't expect to get away with all the racist/sexist crap. I think he's been looking for ways to sabotage his campaign, and this "crooked Hillary" stuff on an official press release is yet another one. I think the idea of moving into the White House and taking on the responsibilities of the Presidency is some scary shit for him and between now and November he'll be angling for ways to lose by making ever more outrageous statements. Problem is, he's pretty much teflon. He'd probably have to announce that he was going to ban guns by executive order before his followers would abandon him in any great numbers.

Democratic Senators are unloading on Bernie Sanders for a courting a debate with Donald Trump.]
Politico rounded up some reactions to Senate Democrats over the Sanders vs. Trump debate dance:
Bullshit, said Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia. That confirms what weve been saying. Why would you expect Bernie should be considerate or be nice or be working to bring everyone together? Why? Hes not a Democrat.
The partys frustrations are boiling over with Sanders as the primary season winds down: Namely that Sanders seems unwilling or unable to admit that Hillary Clinton is on course for the nomination. The ire toward Sanders began earlier this year among the loudest Democratic cheerleaders for Clinton and now its seeping into nearly the entire Senate Democratic caucus.
.
I dont know why he would do that. I think its time to start to winding down the primary, said Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.). Its time to move on.
Its peculiar, said Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). Its all about Bernie trying to get the advantage in California. Its not going to work.
The easiest way to understand what Bernie Sanders is doing is to think of Sen. Sanders as a man who is not ready to let go. The one consistency in every answer that Sanders gives about the state of the race is a willingness to keep going. It doesnt matter what the delegate math, popular vote, or pledged delegate count says, Bernie Sanders is going to keep going.

Worse, Bernie just fed Trump's massive ego, then get slapped aside by Trump as a mere tool to attack Hillary. To think I was seriously considering Bernie only to see him debase himself by letting Trump dictate terms. I can see Bernie saying that he would be more than willing to debate Trump, but then cooperating with efforts to pay Trump $10-$15 million to a charity of Trump's choice.
The only thing sadder is Bernie trying to portray this as a victory. That was not a victory. That was a joke.

(51 posts)So we mock Trump as a chicken to refuse a debate with a candidate for the ongoing Democratic nomination that appears to be written off by many here and that Rachel Maddow claims that it is "all but impossible" for him to gain his party's nominee.
Yet when Hillary Clinton backs out on an early promise to debate the same candidate, many are fine with that. WTF?
And just because I know some will want to see sourcing, click HERE
If anyone wants to claim that San Fransisco Chronicle is a teabaggin' rag (it is a Hearst publication), they can use the google and find another source to this objective fact that is more to their liking -- that is if the sources they trust would even publish this story.
There is other documentation out there -- I provided one reasonable, although imperfect link. I fear it is not good when things are OK when "our pick" does it and not when the "other guy" does it.
