California wildfire threatens thousands of homes

A wildfire in southern California is threatening thousands of homes this weekend, forcing evacuations.
About 300 firefighters were at work on Sunday to fight the 200-hectare fire, which has surrounded a number of upscale homes in and near Calabasas, a 30- to 40-minute drive northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
About 5,000 people were told to leave their homes on Saturday and take shelter at a local high school if needed.
By 2 a.m. Sunday, the evacuation order had been lifted in the communities of Adamsville and Eddingham but remained in Old Topanga, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said on Twitter.
