Trump supporters were 'running for their lives' after San Jose rally, police report says
Source: San Jose Mercury News
SAN JOSE -- Two undercover police officers at a Donald Trump rally last week said they saw Trump supporters "get punched, kicked and pushed" and "running for their lives," according to a police report.
The plain-clothes officers said they did not intervene for fear their own safety would be jeopardized as the estimated 400 protesters developed a "mob mentality."
The officers' observations were included in the arrest report of Antonio Moses Fernandez, 19, of San Jose, who is accused of throwing a metal barrier into a police skirmish line following the Trump rally June 2 outside the San Jose Convention Center. Fernandez made his first court appearance Tuesday and was charged with felony assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer, according to court documents.
Fernandez hung up the phone Wednesday when reached by this newspaper. He could face a sentence of five years in prison if convicted on the felony assault with a deadly weapon charge, according to the prosecutors.

(18,470 posts)Violence just brings our side down to the level of Trump and his supporters. It doesn't win us supporters.
That said, der Trumpenführer and his supporters sowed the wind and it seems they have reaped a hurricane so the violin I am playing is a damn small one.

(3,051 posts)Do you say the same thing to a guy with a flashy car that get car jacked? An attractive woman walking alone at night?
Seriously, Trump is a putz. His supporters are putzes. But no one was "backed into a corner."
People went to the rally looking for trouble, and found it.
I have an idea: ignore Trump and the stupid crap he says. Don't bring attention to it and make him look like a victim by doing stupid shit.

She was wearing her hair pretty sexy like.
Probably her own fault.
Same with the gay guy who got his nose broken and a concussion. Imagine being gay and for Trump. No wonder he got beaten up by a mob.

(32,006 posts)Whether 1992 in LA, 2014 in Ferguson, 2015 in Baltimore, or 2016 outside Trump rallies. When people have had enough oppression, they rise up.
Also there's got to be a reason why violence did not occur at Ted Cruz rallies this year, or for Romney 2012 or McCain 2008. They weren't as much flamethrowers as Trump was.
Unfortunately, most people don't care to study social sciences at any amount of depth - they want to be emotionally assured their leaders stand up to the "bad guys" and for the "law abiding good guys". That's why Mayor Liccardo got so much flack nationally in the wingnut crowd for his "blame Trump" remarks. And Liccardo failed to help his case, by condemning the rioters ONLY AFTER his initial "blame Trump" statements. I don't see a statewide or national political future for Liccardo, based on this.
I don't remember any of the others in the GOP clown car calling for their supporters to do violence. Trump was the only one calling for his supporters to beat up opposition that showed up and then promising to pay their legal expenses. I don't remember Walker, Carly, Cruz, or Rubio behaving in a similar manner when they had protesters at their events. Nor did it happen in 2012 or 2008 with Romney or McCain. I don't even think Palin sunk to the levels that Trump has.

Most political trump protesters have been a mixed crowd with equal or even more females.
These just looked like mostly young men.

(14,165 posts)Two undercover officers, there to covertly watch an anti-Trump protest. hmmm.
The only one charged was a man for throwing a barrier at police. But he denies it and says he only picked it up. Kind of reminds me of some other over-inflated report of people throwing chairs, when it was one person picking one up.
Sound to me like a couple of Trumpster police trying to tar protesters with exaggeration and lies to deflect violence from their side. Do you really think that the knuckle dragging Trump supporters, who were obviously the vast majority there, would be "running for their lives" from a bunch of wimpy liberal bleeding hearts?
edit: OK I've seen the video (below) there was some violence. But from both sides. This "police report" still stinks of bias. Making it seem worse than it was.
