Jo Cox murder suspect tells court his name is 'death to traitors, freedom for Britain'

Source: Guardian

Thomas Mair has given his name as “death to traitors, freedom for Britain” during his appearance in court charged with the murder of Labour MP Jo Cox.

Mair, 52, from Birstall, was formally charged at Westminster magistrates court on Saturday with the murder of Joanne Cox, grievous bodily harm, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of an offensive weapon.

An appeal in Cox’s name raised more than £260,000 in less than 24 hours to support charities working to counter loneliness, challenge extremism, and fund search and rescue workers in Syria.

The US president, Barack Obama, phoned the late MP’s widower, Brendan, from Air Force One to offer his condolences. According to a White House spokesperson, Obama said: “The world is a better place because of her selfless service to others, and there can be no justification for this heinous crime, which robbed a family, a community, and a nation of a dedicated wife, mother and public servant.”

for the same reason I almost hope Le Pen wins, that way, a Europe that spent the latter half of the 20th century playing the eagle against the bear can be forced to smack it's head into the wall of it's incompetence. The Euro was the one serious contender to dethrone the Dollar, until Germany began to pick up old habits of conservative government and ethnic arrogance. Add to that a Britain that cannot decide if they want to be Europe or a revived Empire, and a France that threw away Liberte et Egalite for racism and Austerity, and it may only be a matter of time where the Russians and Chinese ask themselves if they even want the headache of taking it over.

Of course, I hope the Cameron, Le Pen, and yes Merkel go down in flames, I hope the bonfire is so big we can throw Trump on it too.

This, however, seemed like a calculated attack given the homemade/modified gun and knife that he had, but I don't know if she was the intended victim or just a target of opportunity.

his subscription to a pro-apartheid magazine, his apparent cry of 'Britain First', his attendance at a Britain First rally, and Jo Cox's championing of Syrian refugees, I think she was the intended victim.

And to even claim so is incredibly offensive to and stigmatizing towards the mentally ill, it is a common RW tactic every time some otherwise perfectly sane FANATIC IDEOLOGUE goes on a rampage to call them "mentally ill".

I did a bit of quick Googling, and the UK does have life without parole as an option for murders committed to advance a political agenda.
