Polygamous Leader Lyle Jeffs Flees Home Confinement

Authorities say polygamous sect leader Lyle Jeffs has fled Salt Lake City, where he was supposed to be on home confinement pending trial on charges in a multimillion-dollar food stamp fraud scheme.
A U.S. Attorney's Office spokeswoman says a warrant was issued Monday for Jeffs after he took off over the weekend. No details were available about how he got loose.
After several previous requests were denied, Jeffs was let out of jail June 9 by U.S. District Judge Ted Stewart. He was ordered to wear a GPS monitor. In granting Jeffs' release, Stewart cited the fact that the other 10 defendants already out have complied with the court's conditions.
Prosecutors objected to his release, calling Jeffs a flight risk.

(40,416 posts)I have an idea. Let's let the Bundy clan out on bail, too.
Or not.
Let's say not only no, but Hell no.
No bail for you; it's jail for you!

(441 posts)Either he gnawed through the straps that held the GPS strapped to is leg, or he gnawed off his leg.
The speed of his get-away should indicate which.

(1,339 posts)to wash the man's feet on the planet each man gets after death. I am NOT joking. FLDS is fucking psychotically evil.

(160,217 posts)Whoever started their "religion" really seems to have hated women. The bit about washing feet with long hair could make a maggot gag.
How much more could someone grovel? Maybe they could use their hair as mops to keep the floors extra clean, too, so the Mr. would have a really clean house to waddle home to, should he deign to grace them with his presence, after a long day of ruling over the planet.
"Evil" would cover it, for sure.
On edit, found a photo of one of these people getting her hair fixed:

(328 posts)Think it is Matthew... some woman washes Jesus' feet with her tears and dries them with her hair... yes, a bit strange, but that's clearly what they're hoping to emulate. So derivative goofy, not original goofy..

(1,339 posts)Among the thousands of pages of journal entries, Jeffs gave detailed instructions to his followers on how they were to relocate and build a secret compound in West Texas, where he said God had led him to.
Initial descriptions of the bed Jeffs ordered to be made were first heard shortly after the raid on the 1,600-acre compound. Investigators found the altar-like bed on the top all-white floor of the towering limestone temple.
More details were available in the journals, in which he said the bed should have padding on either side to hold him in place as 'the Lord does His work with me' but can easily be disguised as a table.
'It should be made so the table top can come off. It will be on wheels. When the mattress is in place, this bench will be to the right side the bed. This will be made so that it can be taken apart and stored in a closet where no one can see it.
'When I need it, I will pull it out and set it up. The bed will be a size big enough for me to lay on. ... It will be covered with a sheet, but it will have a plastic cover to protect the mattress from what will happen on it.'

(160,217 posts)He's so damned pompous, he sounds like Noah reciting instructions for building his Ark.
He is a full blown, bull goose looney.
Reminds you of the Bob Dylan song, "Everybody Must Get Stoned," with "BONED," instead.
It looks as if he believed he owned everyone in sight, and didn't have a very complete understanding of what behavior is possible with other people.
So alarming knowing there have been enough people willing to go along with this colossal perversion.

(1,339 posts)his "harem" and compare it with the others he had seen across the globe. Said it was boring compared to such things as he wrote about in Arabian Nights. Burton was also there on behalf of a sector inside the British government who wanted to enlist the Mormons to open up a Western front against the Union in the coming civil war.
The Mormons were a huge threat to the US throughout most of their initial history. Many had to flee to Mexico (where Romney's family came from) due to having warrants for treason laid on them. They actively slaughtered many Americans once they got out to Utah. Read up about the Mountain Meadows Massacre. They killed 100 to 140 men women and children in a pioneer wagon train.

(160,217 posts)Have read references to "rogue" Mormons going to Mexico in the last couple of decades when they were being sought for murder, etc., but was not aware that it's an older tradition, heading for the border, than I thought.
If they weren't so bizarre, you could easily see them as a "boring" group. Looks as if they've done everything in their power to avoid learning anything worthwhile, other than breeding and acquiring money any way possible, and "bleeding the beast."
Thanks for your information. It looks like interesting reading.
