Trump adviser resigns after mocking Lewandowski on Twitter

Source: CNN

A top adviser to Donald Trump resigned Monday after sending a mocking tweet about just-fired campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, a campaign source tells CNN.

Michael Caputo, a Trump adviser and head of the communications for Trump's caucus operations team, tweeted "Ding Dong the witch is dead" following the news that Lewandowski had been fired.

"I regret sending out a tweet today alluding to the firing of Corey Lewandowski. In hindsight, that was too exuberant a reaction to this personnel move. I know this is a distraction from the kind of campaign you want to run, so I'm resigning my position as director of communications for caucus operations at the 2016 Republican Convention. Let's make this immediate," Caputo wrote in a letter to campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, according to a copy obtained by CNN.

I want him to crash an burn but not for another few months. If he goes down too soon the Republicans will have time to put some one else up.

In fact, I sort of wish the Democrats would hold all of their good ammunition until after the convention. If Trump continues to nose dive, he will be replaced. I'd rather the Democratic nominee run against Trump than Romney or Ryan or any other electable Republican, although there is a chance that the Trump supporters will stay home if he is replaced. Hmmmm!

They keep thinking Trump will 'pivot', 'tone down', etc, and he disappoints them time and again. Now they will likely think the firing of the campaign manager will change the course of the campaign.

By the time they realize Trump has always only listened to himself, it will be too late to make a change!

Today, only 58.

That's an impressive burn rate.

Luckily all he needs is Donald Trump, and Donald loves him, he has all the best Donald Trumps.

I think even if it came down to just him and his running mate John Miller, he'd still stick it out to the bitter end and fight for the nomination. He has to, given the debt he's incurred; without the GOP to bail him out he'd have to declare another bankruptcy somewhere.

Without having even run for city council before. They don't know how to do...anything.

Can you imagine what a clusterfark that would be, and then add in gigantic egos and a let's say creative view of reality?

Oh, he can reach out to his very rational and grounded supporters to build local teams. OH WAIT -those people are crazy.

Hey I was thinking, I like rockets, so I'll build a rocket ship in my back yard to fly to Mars.

Just about as doable.

I mean, with Trump and the GOP sinking faster than the Titanic, is there any reason for Clinton to not pick someone to the (slightly farther) Left?

And just think: with so many Republicans staying home, it just might be possible to overcome some of that horrible gerrymandering and grab a few down-ticket spots...
