Donald Trump has worst poll results in 15 years

Donald Trump is having a bad month.
Not only are his poll numbers slipping, they are at a low that no one, Republican or Democrat, has seen at this time in the campaign in more than 15 years.
(T)heres no way to look at Trumps national polling that avoids the grim reality that he is at a lower ebb than any general election candidate has hit in the last three elections, the National Reviews Dan McLaughlin wrote last week.
Comparing the window of time between 200 and 100 days before each of the last three elections, you can see that Trump has consistently polled worse than George W. Bush in 2004, John McCain in 2008 and Mitt Romney in 2012.

(48,988 posts)They already say that all the media are "in the tank" for Hillary.
A typical kind of statement is that such-and-such reporter/anchor was a supporter of tRump, but has now "got their marching orders" from the higher ups.
If everything goes their way, it is a "blessing" from Jesus. If it doesn't, then it is a massive conspiracy of the highest order. They think that Ryan is a very willing active participant in putting the fix in for Hillary.
Even so, there is a lot of grumbling about tRump's campaign among the minority who don't blame the media for everything. The slightly saner ones among them are celebrating Manafort's rise over the dismissed Lewandowski as a chance to get the campaign to professionalize. Tough going with a narcissist at the top who doesn't know how to change.

(50,552 posts)Trump is an opposition researcher's dream. Opposition research tends to focus on fairly small things because, in the main, someone running for president is an honorable person.
Did Bush show up for his National Guard duty? (As bad of a pilot as he was, they were probably really happy when he DIDN'T show up!)
Were Kerry's war wounds all that bad?
Did Clinton attend an antiwar protest when he was at Oxford?
Did Romney put a dog on top of his car when he went on vacation?
Trump is a different story: In Mr. Donald Trump we have a bona fide crook and, quite possibly, the worst asshole ever to run for office in the history of the Republic.
Even better: Trump doesn't understand election law. He believes he can get all the free TV time he wants which will keep him from having to buy ads. His problem is, they can't give him free air and not her because that would be considered an in-kind political contribution...and he'd be limited to $2700 worth of it per network. According to http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/how-much-does-it-cost-to-buy-an-ad-on-the-primetime-broadcast-news-programs/36726, one 30-second insertion on NBC's Dateline costs $50,000. Prime-time entertainment shows are a lot more expensive. $50,000 for 30 seconds comes out to $1667 per second...which means the network could legally give him 1.6 seconds of airtime before Trump would have to reimburse him.
Unless he builds a campaign organization and starts raising money, his "coverage" will be limited to the most outrageous parts of his speeches, covered as news items in a special segment titled "Can you believe he said that?" Hillary, OTOH, is raising money and running devastating spots against him - and she's only going to get meaner.
