Trump campaign says it raised an astounding $2 million in 12 hours

Source: MSN/Washington Post

Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump's call this week for his backers to contribute to his campaign generated more than $2 million in less than 12 hours, according to an email to supporters sent Wednesday and signed by his son, Donald J. Trump Jr.

"Yesterday my father sent his first ever fundraising email for the campaign and predicted it would shatter fundraising records," the missive read. "Once again, my father was right. Yesterday's email was a massive success. My father offered to match up to $2 million personally, $1 for every $1 donated, and in less than 12 hours we surpassed that goal. All because of supporters like you."

Raising such a huge sum in a short amount of time — through an email list that had never before been tapped for contributions — would make Trump's pitch for donations one of the most successful in American politics, according to veteran fundraisers. Because not every email recipient responds to a solicitation, experts estimate that it would require a list of as many as 6 million supporters to generate $2 million in such a short period. Digital fundraising experts were skeptical that Trump has been able to curate and maintain such a big list. But if he did pull off $2 million in half a day, Democrats should be worried, they added. At such a rate, Trump could pull in $20 million online by the end of the month.

"This is the first fundraising email I have ever sent on behalf of my campaign. That's right. The FIRST ONE," the candidate wrote in the email sent Tuesday. "And, I'm going to help make it the most successful introductory fundraising email in modern political history by personally matching every dollar that comes in WITHIN THE NEXT 48 HOURS, up to $2 million!"

9. Everything he has given to the campaign so far has been a loan

He has "loaned" the campaign over $40Million, much of which has been spent on services provided by his own companies. My guess is that if the millions start pouring in, he will first pay himself. So if Sheldon Adelson gives him $100Million like he said he was going to, the first $40Million will go straight into Donny's pocket. Much of the rest will pay for future services that Trump's companies provide.

Except it has been beaten many times. In fact really recently.

On February 10, 2016 the Bernie Sanders campaign had raised $6.4 to $6.5 million in the previous 24 hours. At an average of $34/contributor there were about 190,000 donors. In one 15 minute period the campaign processed 26,000 donations

Hell Ron Paul kicked his ass

in 2007, during the campaign of American presidential candidate Ron Paul The fundraising drive raised over $4.2 million in one day, making it at that time the largest one-day Internet political fundraiser ever

The second I read it I knew it was BS. That number has been far surpassed many many times at this point.

This one is one of my favorites.

On February 5–6, 2008, in the aftermath of the Super Tuesday primaries, Barack Obama raised at least $3 million from 7 p.m. to 7 p.m. EST.[73] On September 3–4, 2008, the night after Sarah Palin gave her speech at the Republican National Convention, Barack Obama raised $10 million from over 130,000 donors.[74]

Thanks Sarah! Apparently she is far better at raising money for Democrats than the Donald is at raising money for himself

"Shatter fundraising records" "Father was right" "Massive success"

Sounds like a pamphlet for a pyramid scheme.

With another loan, to be paid back with those very same dollars he just collected. They put in one mil, he loaned one mil, he'll be repaid with the one mil they put in. He loses nothing.

So it was actually $1M in donations, he matched $1M, and bragged he'd raised $2M.

Hell, even $2M in 12 hours isn't that impressive if it's ZOMG TEH FIRST TIME he's asked his contributors for $$$. If it's actually only $1M (which would not surprise anyone) then it's actually kinda pathetic for a first-time ask if you ask me.

He is already looking past getting an embarrassing whooping in the general election.

Trust me....he'll get his money back, by sucking off his weak minded fan base once the whole thing is history, and he has shown the whole world just how fucked up our neighbor's really are.

Have to acknowlege the problem before you can begin to fix it.
