Breaking: Fattah Resigns

Source: Roll Call

Rep. Chaka Fattah announced he had tendered his resignation immediately after being found guilty of corruption charges.

Fattah had earlier said he planned to resign when he is sentenced in October.

"However, out of respect to the entire House Leadership and so as not to cause a distraction from the House's work of the people, I have changed my effective date," his letter said.
Many House leaders including Speaker Paul D. Ryan called for his immediate resignation.

"We must hold members to the highest ethical standard, and I hope that Democratic leaders will join me in seeking his immediate resignation," Ryan said.

Luckily, the convention area is covered by a different Representative.

Missing my old Rep in Atlanta, John Lewis.
