Bill Clinton and AG Loretta Lynch meet privately
Source: CNN
Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton met privately on Monday in Phoenix, Arizona, after the two realized they were on the same tarmac, an aide to Clinton said.
The meeting took place at an Arizona airport ahead of the public release Tuesday morning of the House Benghazi committee's report on the September 11, 2012, attack on a U.S. consulate in Libya.
Speaking at a news conference in Phoenix on Tuesday, Lynch confirmed the meeting and denied the two spoke about any matter pending before the Justice Department or the Benghazi probe. She also said the former president "did not raise anything" about an ongoing case or anything of that nature.
"I did see President Clinton at the Phoenix airport as he was leaving and spoke to myself and my husband on the plane," Lynch said according to CNN affiliate KNXV/ABC15. "Our conversation was a great deal about grandchildren, it was primarily social about our travels and he mentioned golf he played in Phoenix."

(135,425 posts)The Clintons do have a home there. Loretta and Bill's wife both worked for the same boss.
I would be shocked if these two couples didn't travel in the same social circles and know each other, perhaps quite well.
Love the way people are desperately, FITZmasly, trying to make something out of it--like Bill and Loretta would "conspire" while Loretta's husband sits off to the side playing Candy Crush, or something!

(2,329 posts)and her relation to some org that had a case before the court?
The calls for his recusal were based on the possibility of influence by his wife. It didn't matter that everyone knew how he was going to vote it's the idea that he wouldn't be impartial that mattered.
It happened with Kagan and the Obamacare case too
No one has questioned her ethics, that I'm aware of, but the appearance this projects doesn't look good

(135,425 posts)It was an "Oh wow, Loretta and her husband are waiting to take off, too? Let me go on over and say 'Hi!'"
Pure chance and happenstance--and last I checked, HE wasn't under investigation.
How much colluding they did with Loretta's husband RIGHT THERE is a bit of a leap, too.

(3,825 posts)what are you insinuating? Are they supposed to speak together in public, or would it be safer for them to speak in a private area where they can be protected? Really CNN, the home of a once great news network that now hires abusers of women. The Criminally Nefarious Network. Crap in, crap out.

(8,541 posts)Loretta is giving the Clinton's a heads up on the FBI investigation. We always attribute the worst possible outcomes, don't we? I find her to be a very honorable government representative. Apparently some want to believe differently. Ready to believe the worst.

(8,541 posts)Why was Bill in Arizona? Why was Loretta there as well? It seems odd that their paths would intersect at an airport in the boondocks.

(13,776 posts)He may be super smart and super charming and everything, but he has very bad judgement. As a lawyer he should have known better than to ask to meet with her (and she should have known better than to agree, to be fair) and now the Republicans have something new to light their hair on fire about. And now, once again, Hillary has to defend herself against something he did.

(12,322 posts)and they exchanged chit chat about the grandkids. He just had a new one, so I'm sure she asked. All of this is per her.
What am I missing here?

(13,776 posts)It was a private meeting, so there's no way to contradict Republican claims that they talked about the FBI investigation. I'm sure they didn't... well, it's Bill, so who knows, but I hope and assume that they didn't. But it certainly doesn't look good.
Plus, even if it was only a friendly conversation about grandkids, that's not great. Talking about personal things with someone makes most people feel more warmly towards that person.
I think most lawyers are saying that was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad idea for him to create even the appearance of favoritism or any kind of personal relationship. And I think they're right.
Bill just has no restraining bolt.
