Clinton tweaks Trump with her own 3 a.m. tweet storm
Source: CNET
Instead, on Friday morning she asked, "What kind of man stays up all night to smear a woman with lies and conspiracy theories?"
And then, in the wee hours Saturday, her Twitter account offered its take on appropriate late-night topics. It posted this: "It's 3:20am. As good a time as any to tweet about national service."
Another predawn tweet followed: "There are hundreds of thousands more @AmeriCorps applications than spots. Horrible! Let's expand it from 75,000 annual members to 250,000."
* * *
She wasn't done: "Remember, don't believe the haters who describe America as hopeless and broken. We should lift each other up, not tear each other down."

(6,241 posts)break his mind. I know I wouldn't want to be near Donald Trump on a good day. But after losing the election? Especially to someone he considers beneath him? Forget about it.
She needs to keep it up. She needs to be without mercy and apology. We needs more stuff like the "deplorables" line. She will never convince them, but there are still undecideds out there. Let the contempt for Trump fly!

Not cool. At all.

(17,382 posts)I know Trump totally things this is a terrible thing, but I think it is a positive to oppose such hateful rhetoric: "Remember, don't believe the haters who describe America as hopeless and broken. We should lift each other up, not tear each other down."

(35,943 posts)When you entertain Trump tactics and enter into the opponents' reportoire of campaigning, you open us ALL up to the stupid right wing argument that "Both sides do it!" which gives no frustrated, low-participation voter any reason to care to change their non-voting ways and engage in voting.
The Clinton campaign must stop this. WE must not doggedly go along with a Trump campaign tactic!
It is NOT "positive" for the Clinton campaign OR its surrogates to tweet at 3 a.m. -- no matter what the "positive" message is! No!
We are out to win this election by "going high when they go low." Do you remember that advice from Michelle Obama?
I can't believe I have to remind Democratic Underground members about how to distinguish themselves from their shitty opponents.
Good lord.

(35,943 posts)You think this cheap downturn in a presidential campaign is just a cute joke? Politics as entertainment now? "Look! I can tweet at 3 a.m., too!"
"Now they both do it!" is what media will say. Happy now?
People's lives here and around the world depend on sober leadership, and the unserious people had better act like the adult voters who understand the geopolitical world.
To not take cheap presidential politics seriously is an indefensible high school mentality.
Indefensible.

(35,943 posts)Not appropriate for a statewoman or her surrogates to do. AT ALL.

(17,382 posts)That is some serious false equivalency. It is not the time of the tweets. It is the subject matter that has everyone riled up. If Trump was simply tweeting about cutting taxes or regulations, standard right wing fare, I am pretty sure there would be little outrage. The issue is the fact that he is doubling down on his mysogynistic attacks. Now, if you think expanding Americorps is the "low road" and equivalent to attacking a woman as "Miss Piggy" and falsely suggesting that she did porn, then I guess we just disagree.
