Republican Chairman of Wall Street Committee Held Fundraiser With Official From Domestic Terrorist Group
New Jersey Representative Scott Garrett praised Edward Durfee, the regional coordinator for New Jersey Oath Keepers, at an October gathering.
by Joshua Green
Republican Representative Scott Garrett of New Jersey, a seven-term incumbent locked in a close re-election race, headlined an Oct. 1 breakfast organized by an official for an antigovernment group that New Jerseys Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness considers a domestic terrorist threat. At the breakfast, Garrett hailed the official, Edward Durfee, as an unsung hero. Durfee is regional coordinator for New Jersey Oath Keepers, a group state officials list as militia extremists (who) pose a moderate threat to New Jersey. Durfee also co-founded the American Bedrock Foundation, which co-sponsored and collected payments for the Garrett breakfast. The American Bedrock Foundation is basically the fundraising arm for the Oath Keepers and other pro-Constitution groups, Durfee said in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek. Thats what our purpose is.
Garrett didnt respond to interview requests. In a statement, his campaign manager, Sarah Neibart, said, Congressman Garrett has no affiliationpersonal or politicalwith any of the organizations mentioned. Any suggestion otherwise is absurd.
Durfee also co-founded the breakfasts other sponsor, Bergen County New Jersey for Liberty, a group formed in 2007 to support Ron Paul. Some members of Bergen County New Jersey for Liberty believe the federal government was complicit in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Durfee wont go that far, but says hes skeptical of the governments investigation: Im not fully settled with that, with the story that was put out, personally. The groups Meet Up page features pictures of members at a 2010 press conference for Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, an organization that disputes the findings of the federal governments investigation into the causes the Sept. 11 attacks.
Garrett is casting a wide net in his re-election bid because he suddenly needs all the friends he can find. He is chairman of the powerful House Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises, which is vital to Wall Street because it oversees U.S. capital markets. The rules of the road for handling money and anything with the SEC go through this committee, says Marcus Stanley, policy director of the nonprofit Americans for Financial Reform. But while Garrett has easily won re-election since winning New Jerseys 5th District seat in 2002, he ran into trouble last year, when Politico reported that he made disparaging remarks about gays in a meeting with Republican colleagues and refused to pay his party dues to protest Republicans recruitment and support of gay candidates. Afterward, many banks and hedge funds who had supported Garrettincluding Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, and Elliott Managementstopped giving him money.

So Sarah, what does your boss think of the orange dumpster? Apparently he supports a racists, bigot, fraud, pathological liar, that hasn't paid taxes in 18 years and not supporting the military, education, roads, water, air, food, social security, medicare, medicaid, sounds like a dead beat to me when someone doesn't pay there fair share of taxes.
And Sarah, did you know that the Kellyanne Conway, this is just classic, use to work for Robert Mercer, you do know who he his correct, he's the hedge fund manager that funds Breitbart, the same place that attacks people, groups, and believes in any and all tin foil hat conspiracy theories, and attacks a woman's right to choice, black lives matter, and anything else that belongs to white nationalist extremists

Apparently since he (your boss) thinks the "Oath Keepers" are a swell gang to hang around with, what does he have to say about criminals that like to point guns at federal agents there in Nevada and in Oregon with the Bundy crowd and some "Oath Keepers", you know the same ones that are now in jail for being dead beats, and threatening federal agents.
Oh, yeah, that sounds like the orange dumpster, he likes to stiff contractors, attorneys, mom and pops, just about anyone out of money owed to them, and then walk around a brag about it, and this "guy" supports your boss.
Your boss (Garrett) took his hand and placed it on a bible and swore to up hold the constitution, you do know that there is a paragraph in there about treason right? Maybe you and him should re-read it, any citizen of the United States can file charges on him for associating with people that want to over throw a duly elected government, you do realize this correct?
As the old saying goes this Congressman has some explaining to do, and he can't hide, November 8, 2016 is fast approaching.
All the democrats need are 31 district seats to take back the Congress and 7 seats in the Senate, so that we can get some important items done for the middle class, working poor, other items on of importance on the agenda, instead of hate and fear that you are associated with there Garrett and your team from Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell on down

I was born in NJ, never heard that about NJ, and never went to that part of the state until two years ago. Then I understood what he was saying.

"Following the April 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, which killed 168 men, women, and children, Chenoweth condemned the bombers but not the militia groups to which they were linked. While we can never condone this, she said, we still must begin to look at the public policies that may be pushing people too far.10 Inspired by a 1992 siege in Ruby Ridge, Idaho, in which Federal Bureau of Investigation agents shot and killed the wife and son of a federal fugitive, Chenoweth also introduced legislation in the House requiring federal authorities to secure state and local permission to conduct law enforcement operations in municipalities. Additionally, Representative Chenoweth called for the dissolution of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
